Software Engineer Intern – Master’s or PhD
San Mateo, CA or Fully Remote

About the Team:
Join our Summer 2025 Intern Program as a Software Engineer Intern, where you'll help develop CPU compilers and related tools for the PlayStation SDK. These tools are essential for both game developers and internal software teams who create games and applications for PlayStation, using programming languages like C and C++. You’ll collaborate closely with SDK teams, system software teams, and game partners worldwide, gaining valuable industry experience.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program in Computer Science or a related field, with a focus or interest in compilers, programming languages, and code optimization.
  • Expected to graduate by Spring 2026.
  • Strong knowledge of C and C++ with exceptional programming skills.
  • Experience with the LLVM compiler project, and a solid understanding of debugging, performance analysis, tuning, and testing.
  • A desire to learn compiler internals, including general and target-specific optimizations, code generation, instruction scheduling, syntax parsing, and runtime library interactions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of delivering clear and engaging messages to peers and team members.

 

Eligibility:

  • Able to work during one of the following periods: May 19th - August 8th or June 16th - September 5th.
  • Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.
  • Open to students who are U.S. citizens or international students with an F-1 visa.
  •  Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

 

Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. 

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. 

 

Intern Pay Range
$45$57.75 USD
