CMC Markets are hiring! We are currently recruiting for a DBA Manager to join our IT Production department on a permanent basis . Please note that this role is only open to Sydney based candidates with full working rights (Citizen/Permanent Resident).

Are you a passionate database administration leader excited about creating highly available and secure solutions? We have a fantastic opportunity that might be just for you!

We seek a dynamic, hands-on Sydney DBA Manager to guide our local DBA team and manage CMC’s Microsoft SQL Server environment. You’ll also work closely with our London team to enhance our global SQL Server estate,

supporting vital systems like CMC’s Stockbroking and Next Gen trading platforms.

In this role, you’ll lead a talented team, champion best practices, and ensure the stability and security of our enterprise database infrastructure, working with technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server HAG, SQL Server TDE, SSIS, SSRS, and tools like Redgate SQL Monitor, Jira, Git, Rubrik, Delphix, and Octopus Deploy.

Please note that we operate onsite working and would require you to come into our Barangaroo office 5 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the local DBA team, providing guidance and handling technical escalations
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment, promoting professional growth
  • Ensure enterprise database services align with established standards and business goals, supporting future scalability
  • Continuously monitor and optimise database performance to ensure systems operate at peak efficiency
  • Take ownership of live service issues, driving their resolution to minimise recurring technical problems and enhance system stability
  • Collaborate with senior management to align database strategies with overall business goals and ensure the infrastructure supports future demand
  • Drive continuous improvements in operational efficiency and modernise database management practices
  • Ensure database systems are secured, data is protected, and least privileged access is provided
  • Design and test disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and business continuity
  • Implement data masking and anonymisation to safeguard sensitive data in non-production environments
  • Ensure compliance with agreed standards, policies and controls
  • Contribute to regular audits and actively drive remediation strategies
  • Ensure operational documentation is current, accurately reflecting changes and improvements

Key Skills And Experience:

Essential

  • Two years of experience in line management in a similar role
  • Experience in defining and developing effective enterprise database infrastructure and management solutions
  • Significant work experience in SQL Server Database Administration
  • Experience managing enterprise SQL Server Database infrastructure
  • Proactive attitude towards learning and adapting to new technologies and industry best practices
  • Experience in working within an ITIL framework
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
