About the Company
Elsevier is a global information analytics company that helps institutions and professionals progress science, advance healthcare and improve performance for the benefit of humanity. We serve the research, academic and clinical communities through the application of technology and analytics to content. In this way, we empower those communities to contribute to social progress, to enhance human well-being and to share and expand the breadth of human knowledge.

About the Role

The Strategic Account Analyst plays a key role in supporting commercial success across Elsevier’s Academic & Government customer portfólio. Working closely with Account Managers, this position leverages research intelligence, analytics, and customer insights to drive retention, identify growth opportunities, and demonstrate the value of Elsevier’s solutions to universities, research institutions, and government agencies.

Responsibilities

1. Strategic Support for Account Managers (Academic & Government)

  • Customer ROI Analysis: Develop and maintain impact reports (using Scopus and SciVal data) to demonstrate the value of Elsevier’s portfolio to key government agencies (e.g., CAPES) and top-tier universities.

  • Whitespace Identification: Conduct "gap analyses" to identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing accounts, particularly for emerging AI-driven tools and Open Access transitions.

  • Retention Modeling: Build early-warning systems to identify accounts at risk of non-renewal by analyzing usage patterns and engagement metrics.

  • Proposal Support: Assist in the creation of data-heavy commercial proposals for large-scale government tenders and consortium negotiations.

2. Regional Leadership & Director Support

  • Regional Performance Tracking: Manage and report on regional KPIs, including pipeline health, forecasting accuracy, and revenue targets for the Latam sales team.

  • Strategic Project Management: Support the Director in regional initiatives, such as the implementation of new sales frameworks (e.g., ROI-based selling) and the rollout of regional research infrastructure projects.

  • Market Intelligence: Monitor the Latin American research landscape, providing updates on competitor moves, government funding shifts, and local academic trends.

  • Executive Reporting: Prepare monthly and quarterly business review (MBR/QBR) presentations for global leadership, distilling complex regional data into actionable executive summaries.

3. Data Governance & Process Optimization

  • CRM Excellence: Ensure the integrity of regional data within Salesforce, acting as the local champion for data hygiene and reporting standards.

  • Dashboard Development: Build and maintain automated dashboards (Power BI or Tableau) that provide real-time visibility into account health and regional sales performance.

    Requirements

  • Experience: 3–5 years in business analytics, sales operations, or management consulting—ideally within the EdTech, SaaS, or Academic Publishing sectors.

  • Technical Savvy: Advanced proficiency in Excel (vlookup, pivot tables, modeling) and CRM systems (Salesforce). Experience with AI, Power BI, Tableau, or SQL is highly preferred.

  • Mindset: A "Design Science" approach—you don’t just report on problems; you design artifacts (tools, templates, processes) to solve them.

  • Communication: Ability to translate complex data into a "story" that resonates with both academic librarians and high-level government officials.

  • Language Skills: Fluency in English, Portugues and Spanish is essential. Proficiency in Portuguese is a significant advantage given the strategic importance of the Brazilian market.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Data Science, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
