Looking for a Business risk management professional to support the various disciplines, and business unit aligned work in GD and IS Business Risk Management. Ideally we are looking for a candidate with some risk management experience with exposure to the Operational environment at State Street (or similar firm).

What you will be responsible for

Build relationship with the local and regional senior management as the business risk point of contact; facilitating engagement/collaboration with BRM pillars and BRM Functional Leads as needed.  Responsible for the Global Delivery business areas of a specific legal entity or region as the main contact for all risk related matters, including but not be limited to:

  • Under general supervision, providing input/advising on risk and controls as relates to the specific business function including providing input/challenge on remediation plans relating to issues and incidents
  • Collaborating across BRM and the Business to implement and complete BRM initiatives (e.g. RCSA, Business Process Management, Issues and incidents, control recertification, Regulatory requirements)
  • Provide reporting to management (utilizing central reporting capabilities) and highlight key themes / outcomes, as applicable
  • Represent BRM in any Business specific forums, meetings and reviews (e.g. Local or regional leadership and risk committee meetings, ERM TRA's, audit kick offs and closure meetings)
  • Escalate key risks, controls and incidents as needed to BRM regional/LE Alignment leads / Leadership team and to local and/or regional senior management
  • Engage and participate in BRM operational activities such as employee engagement initiative, training and other similar programs.
  • Under general supervision, Support efforts to successfully deliver on business/first line of defense (FLOD) risk and control initiatives in accordance with relevant policies and frameworks – through close collaboration with Global Delivery Senior Management and other regionally based partners where GD business operates.
  • Implement and execute on a robust, industry-standard risk management framework for the activities in the location, in alignment with the methodology and practices employed globally by GD BRM.
  • Partner with other relevant corporate functions to ensure effectiveness of controls and transparency of activities, project-related plans, and expectations management.
  • Support execution of processes to ensure appropriate analysis of incidents and issues, including root cause and trend analysis.
  • Continuously assess and propose opportunities to enhance risk management processes and controls improvement and provide guidance to business on design and application of key controls, procedures and best practices.
  • Support advising the business locally on the implications to operations of regulatory change.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or above
  • Experience within the financial services industry; 1-3 years; compliance or risk preferred
  • Experience in assurance and control environment preferred
  • Basic knowledge of APAC based regulatory schemes
  • Ability to identify potential issues and/or breaches of firm or corporate requirements
  • Ability to prioritize work product required

  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office suite of applications
  • Good writing, data management, and reporting skills
  • Attention to detail and dedication to pursue data quality
  • High degree of intellectual curiosity
  • Strong oral and written English and Japanese skills are essential
  • Be flexible to work for State Street hours and be able to attend global night meetings
