The Financial Accountant reporting to the Finance Manager as part of the Financial Control team is responsible for preparing, analysing and reporting financial information to ensure accuracy of the organisation's financial performance and position, in compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
You will be required to conduct, for example month end, reconciliations, tax, Board and management reports as well as ensuring financial policies, controls and processes within the finance team are operating effectively.
Core responsibilities
Assist with preparation and review of month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial activities including preparation of workbooks and processing journal entries covering both the management and statutory/regulatory views
Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigate and reconcile any discrepancies
Assist with preparing financial statements, notes, and disclosures aligned with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Support the audit process
Support in monitoring of financial controls across the Group
Review financial data to identify discrepancies, ensure data accuracy, and promptly address issues.
Prepare funder and shareholder reports
Assist with preparation of Regulatory reporting: ABS Surveys, APRA returns, Payment Times Reporting
Cross train and provide leave cover for accounts payable function
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field;
Professional certification such as CA (Chartered Accountant) or CPA (Certified Public Accountant) is required.
Experiences
Experience in the full range of either financial and/ or management accountant activities – including general accounting, financial analysis and reports - preferably within the financial services sector
Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems; familiarity with data visualisation tools is advantageous.
Experience in finance and audit, including financial policy development and a deep understanding of financial controls.
