Associate Director, Sourcing

In this role, you will be responsible for the global indirect central sourcing team, partnering closely with our global procurement business partnering and category management function, and responsible for a team of procurement professionals dedicated to leading strategic and tactical sourcing projects across the company to achieve optimal total cost of ownership, driving best-in-class global procurement aligned with business objectives. 

 

Located in Foster City (Office Based) 

 

Primary responsibilities include: 

  • Lead a blended team of FTE and MSP resources responsible for leading tactical to complex strategic sourcing initiatives and negotiations across a broad set of indirect categories. 

  • Identify and manage KPIs to measure and present performance and impact a regular basis. 

  • Provide expertise to drive a constant progression of practices and standards for sourcing and negotiation process across all sourcing activity across the enterprise. 

  • Manage execution of sourcing projects associated with enterprise-wide category strategies to deliver value by achieving savings, as well as improving quality and delivery. 

  • Collaborate with Procurement Business Partners, Category Managers, Supplier Inclusion and other Procurement functions to integrate diversity, responsible procurement and risk management into sourcing practices. 

  • Foster a culture of inclusion, results orientation, psychological safety to optimize team performance. 

  • Nurture a climate of psychological safety and empower team members to feel like they can speak up, propose new and different ways of working, and most importantly, grow and advance in a career path in Procurement as well as Gilead overall. 

 

Skills, Experience and Capabilities: 

 

  • 10+ years of experience plus a BS/BA or 8+ years of experience plus a MA/MS, JD, or MBA in a corporate environment, preferably in the areas of procurement and supplier management, corporate legal or corporate strategy. 

  • Experience leading and managing procurement professionals, with a focus on mentoring, coaching and performance management. 

  • In-depth knowledge and experience of Indirect Procurement and strategic sourcing processes. 

  • In-depth knowledge and experience of negotiation and contract management leading practices.  

  • Demonstrates business acumen and outstanding judgement. 

  • Proven track record of applying procurement principles, concepts, best practices, and standards, as well as analyzing and drawing insights from procurement data and systems. 

  • Experience driving success across a matrixed and evolving organization. 

  • Meets Gilead’s leadership commitments with demonstrated experience in applying these principles.

The salary range for this position is: $177,905.00 - $230,230.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
