Summary of Job Duties:

Residential Curriculum & Student Learning
•Lead the implementation and continuous assessment of the department's Residential Curriculum.
•Develop intentional learning outcomes that support student success, wellness, leadership, community engagement, and personal responsibility.
•Coordinate educational initiatives aligned with departmental and institutional strategic priorities.
•Assess programming effectiveness and prepare annual reports using learning outcomes and assessment data.
•Collaborate with campus partners to provide educational opportunities for residential students.
•Maintain programming calendars and curriculum timelines.

Resident Assistant Program Administration
•Provide direct supervision for all Resident Assistants.
•Coordinate Resident Assistant recruitment, selection, hiring, and onboarding.
•Develop and facilitate comprehensive RA training programs each semester.
•Conduct weekly staff meetings and individual supervisory meetings.
•Complete performance evaluations and provide coaching and professional development.
•Monitor RA duty coverage and accountability.
•Provide guidance regarding conflict mediation, community development, and crisis response.
•Recognize and celebrate outstanding student staff performance.

Graduate Assistant Supervision
•Directly supervise all Graduate Assistants within Housing and Residence Life.
•Establish work expectations and professional development goals.
•Provide mentoring in higher education administration and student engagement.
•Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and performance evaluations.
•Delegate departmental projects and assess completion.

Administrative Responsibilities
•Maintain accurate student staff records.
•Prepare reports and assessment documents.
•Assist with departmental planning and strategic initiatives.
•Maintain confidentiality of student records in accordance with FERPA and university policies.
•Utilize departmental technology and software, including StarRez, Microsoft Office, and institutional systems.
•Maintain working knowledge of StarRez for student staff assignments, occupancy management, reporting, programming documentation, and administrative functions

Student Leadership Development
•Develop leadership curriculum for Resident Assistants and Graduate Assistants.
•Coordinate leadership retreats, workshops, and professional development opportunities.
•Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and servant leadership.
•Mentor student leaders in communication, ethical decision-making, crisis management, and student engagement.

Residential Programming
•Oversee educational, social, cultural, and wellness programming throughout the residential communities.
•Ensure programming aligns with departmental learning outcomes.
•Monitor programming budgets.
•Assist with campus-wide student engagement initiatives.
•Encourage collaboration between Residence Life and Student Engagement.

Student Conduct
•Address policy violations occurring within the residence halls.
•Meet with students regarding behavioral concerns.
•Document incidents accurately and promptly.
•Participate in the student conduct process as assigned.
•Follow up on student welfare concerns and behavioral interventions.

Crisis Management
•Respond to emergencies and critical incidents within residential communities.
•Serve as a member of the professional on-call rotation.
•Provide support to students experiencing crises.
•Coordinate with University Police, Counseling Services, Facilities Management, Student Health Services, and other campus partners during emergencies.
•Complete timely incident documentation.

Housing Operations Support
•Assist with opening, closing, and transition processes.
•Support occupancy management and room assignments as needed.
•Assist with room inspections and damage assessments.
•Participate in departmental committees and special projects.
•Support summer conferences, camps, and special housing operations.


Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • One to three years of progressively responsible experience in Housing and Residence Life or Student Engagement.
  • Experience supervising Resident Assistants and/or Graduate Assistants.
  • Experience planning educational programming and leadership development.
  • Demonstrated crisis management and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and respond to emergencies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience implementing a residential curriculum model.
  • Working knowledge of StarRez Housing Management Software.
  • Experience with assessment and learning outcomes.
  • Experience with student conduct processes.
  • Experience in crisis intervention and behavioral response.
