We are seeking a highly motivated PhD Candidate to join the Hair Care Strategic Technology Platform team, located in Mason, OH, as a PhD Summer Intern. The PhD Intern will work in close collaboration with multifunctional project teams and lead upstream innovation programs to evaluate surface and core properties of consumer hair and how this drives consumer perception. This will be important to understand fundamental mechanisms, generate new insights, and develop R&D solutions that deliver outstanding benefits in our Hair Care products (e.g. Pantene Conditioners, Herbal Essences Shampoos, etc.).  These insights will have a meaningful influence on our business strategy and will enable our products to win with consumers and deliver balanced results for our Company.

Job Qualifications

We are looking for a Ph.D. candidate in a STEM field, more specifically with expertise in natural products.

  • Expertise of natural products and natural chemistry
  • Expertise in analytical measurements (i.e. mass spectrometry and chromatography)
  • Proficient in modeling analytical data
  • Publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Passionate about the hands-on experiment work and demonstrate track record of leading innovation
  • Strong mentor who is able to guide the work of others
  • Team player and ability to work in a multi-functional organization
