Working within the Engineering Team (with Planning and Material Control Oversight), the Manufacturing Engineer role will be responsible for creating part numbers and associated kit part numbers and structures from approved engineering drawings.  You will be proactive and forward thinking with regard to how the parts and structures are defined to fulfil the customer expected configuration requirements of the aircraft.

You will check for part applicability and validity and support engineering with defining and detailing the most current and up to date parts.

You will be a key participant in the weekly change board meeting to discuss and determine the suitability of any requested changes and agree the acceptance and incorporation, if approved.  When necessary you will lead the Change Board meeting, engaging with all applicable departments and representatives.

You will be part of a cross functional team with an objective to deliver all materials associated to multiple customer reconfiguration programmes.  The extended team includes Material Control and Asset Management who share the same deliverable objective. 

You will feedback into the wider team any such issues or concerns that may jeopardise programme deliverables.  The wider team or Integrated Project Team (IPT) consists of Engineering, Purchasing, Supply Chain and Programme Management.  You will establish and control the parts requirements in support of our projects and see them through to delivery to the customers.

This role requires a keen attention to detail and the ability to communicate status efficiently to all levels of personnel. You will need to have a good understanding of engineering drawings and bills of materials (BOM).

Responsibilities:

• Liaise with the IPT to fully understand the parts kit(s) requirement for contracted and upcoming projects.
• Define the make/buy decision with support of the Programme Manager.

• Manage the receipt of engineering data in a controlled manner, ensuring configuration control is maintained.
• Integrate with engineering to:
  • Check parts, required on Engineering drawings, are valid and not obsolete or superseded.
  • Feedback and educate engineering on performing part applicability checks prior to inclusion within the drawings.
  • Validate released engineering drawings match the Bill of Materials (BoM) to ensure no parts are missed.
  • Routinely review engineering control data to track and progress against drawing release dates.
  • Check parts, requested by Engineering as Boeing supply, are included within contractual agreements as Boeing supplied items, and challenge/reject those that are not.

• Inform Programme Management, when necessary, should there be delays in engineering release, in time to meet the customer schedule.
• Create structured BoM (Bills of Material) within PDM / ERP (Product Data Management / Enterprise Resource Planning) using data contained in engineering drawings and bills of materials (BoM).
• Assist in identifying and releasing, at the earliest opportunities, any long lead items for ordering to meet the customer required delivery dates.
• Coordinate / attend change board meetings to advise and understand potential changes, and if agreed, assess the impact of implementing those changes.
• Implement requested part and structure changes on receipt of the updated engineering drawings, following approval through the change control board. 
• Administer part numbers into PMdb and carry out any updates as necessary.
• Highlight risks, issues and opportunities at all stages of the project lifecycle.
• Occasionally work flexible hours to support team meetings, training, and coordination with international team members.
• Attend meetings when necessary and required whether in person or remotely.
• Be prepared to support other roles in the department as necessary to ensure successful delivery of each programme.
• Be adaptable and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Some travel for training and business developments may be necessary.

Required Experience:

Recognised Bachelors (or higher) degree in an engineering discipline OR minimum of 5 years applicable experience as a Manufacturing Engineer / Planning Engineer within aerospace (preferred), automotive or other engineering and manufacturing environment.

Work Authorisation:
