POSITION PURPOSE:

A Radiological Technician develops competency in and performs the basics of XR testing and associated interventions under direct supervision of a licensed Radiological (XR) Technologist. Purpose of this position is to promote into a board certified XR technologist.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Gather and Analyze Patient Information by verifying the medical order/protocol, completing/verifying documentation, explaining procedure and orientating the patient to XR.

  • Assists with XR exams under the direct supervision of a licensed XR technologist.

  • Completes required competencies to promote to XR Technologist. 

  • Assists in the maintenance of images and other records in the correct system application (EHR/PACS, etc.)

  • Recognizes and responds to emergencies appropriately.

  • Participate in equipment care and maintenance.

  • Transports patients and communicates pertinent information to appropriate caregivers.

  • Demonstrates competencies in patient care and nursing assistant skills based on current scientific knowledge.

  • Promotes self and professional education through health fairs, trade shows, and in-services.

  • Perform other related duties, incidental to the work described herein, as directed by the supervisor or director.

SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW & REQUIREMENTS

  • Completed first year of radiology program at an accredited school of radiology

  • Currently enrolled in an approved associate degree or bachelor’s degree Radiology Program

  • Must have current BLS or obtain within 30 days of hire and maintain throughout employment at CGH.

  • Under the immediate supervision of the registered technologist preceptor; demonstrates the knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served, demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient population served. 

  • Fulfill requirements of PRN (Casual Pool Employment) Policy

  • Basic computer literacy in specific Radiology software application.
