As a Student Support Specialist Senior at the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation, you’ll lead recruitment initiatives for undergraduate and graduate students. This includes supporting students, organizing and hosting events, executing campaigns, and building partnerships with high schools, community colleges, businesses, and professional organizations. You’ll play a key role in supporting incoming students and driving recruitment goals for all Edson College programs.
The Student Support Specialist Senior will provide support to all incoming populations. This position ensures that recruitment goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation’s priorities. This position is based on the Downtown Phoenix campus but supports recruitment and admission initiatives, activities, and goals for all Edson College programs and locations.
Position Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000, DOE
Essential Duties:
Lead recruitment initiatives for programs and pathways for incoming first-year and transfer students.
Serve as the lead first-year student recruitment team member at the Downtown Phoenix campus and lead transfer recruiter for assigned community colleges.
Propose, develop and implement programming and initiatives to support enrollment growth.
Coordinate recruitment initiatives and attend events at assigned high schools and community colleges (in Maricopa county, in rural AZ counties, and at targeted California institutions), agencies/organizations, and professional conferences.
At events, meet with prospective students, counselors and/or administrators.
Design and conduct presentations, workshops, and campus tours, tailoring information to diverse audiences, including prospective students, applicants, admitted students, schools, and organizations.
Assist prospective and admitted students (including their parents and families) via phone, email, and in-person communication.
Share admission, housing and financial aid information; answer questions and address concerns; compare educational options; review and discuss academic credentials; guide students through next steps; connect students with other ASU units and resources.
Utilize Salesforce (CRM) to document student interactions and maintain records.
Review applications and academic credentials for undergraduate and graduate applicants.
Analyze admissions data to recommend strategies for increasing applications and enrollment.
Develop and distribute recruitment materials, including presentations, web content, and promotional resources.
Provide office and phone coverage to support service delivery to students.
Develop a working knowledge of ASU programs, policies, and practices.
Report on recruitment activities.
Assist with development of goals and objectives for the recruitment unit.
Build and maintain relationships with ASU units and community organizations.
Participate in meetings, professional development, and ongoing training.
Provide cross-training and support for student services staff.
Travel in-state and occasionally out-of-state for recruitment initiatives.
Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Drive.
Deliver presentations.
Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
Supervise student staff.
Use a personal vehicle to travel to different campuses.
Perform other duties as needed to support Edson College enrollment goals.
Desired Qualifications:
Evidence of a Masters degree in higher education, student personnel administration, education, nursing/health, or closely related field.
Experience presenting to small and large groups of students.
Experience developing a recruitment plan and implementing recruitment strategies.
Experience identifying target populations and organizing events, workshops, and campus tours for prospective students.
Experience maintaining a student contact list for recruitment, admission, advising, or retention purposes.
Skill in preparing detailed reports on a timely basis.
Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
Work collaboratively across various departments, as well as with diverse populations and groups across the University.
Use computers effectively - including inputting, reviewing, retrieving information, extended periods of viewing screen, and using mouse and keyboard.
Ability to use calculator, telephone, computer (monitor, keyboard, and mouse), printer, fax, and copier.
Use of basic math and a calculator.
Professional representation of department/programs.
Ability to respond to emergency situations.
Demonstrated knowledge of management and supervisory principles and practices.
Demonstrates experience of providing service to students and/or customers.
Demonstrated knowledge of functionality of CRM programs and higher education student information systems.
Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external clients.
Experience in developing and conducting group presentations targeted to diverse programming, perspectives, or audiences.
Demonstrated knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and techniques of customer service.
Working Environment:
Use of computer equipment and software.
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.
Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk (moderate) distances to perform work.
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds (medium).
Required to work weekends, evenings, nights, on-call as regular part of the job.
Will be required to travel between campuses, in state and out of state for events.
Hybrid work schedule.
Position may involve shared offices/space.
This position is full-time, and the incumbent must be available Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm.
The primary work location is the Downtown Phoenix campus, but a presence on other campuses or at off-campus locations may be required.
