Workday's BT Systems Engineering team is looking for a highly motivated technical lead to join our fun, innovative, and hardworking team. Working with an outstanding group of highly qualified IT professionals, you will be part of a special team that is building the cloud first approach for workmates. We are seeking a skilled and motivated hands on lead who can help BT continue to deliver secure services at scale.. This position is located in Pune, India

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology, innovation, problem solving, and customer service. This role requires a self-motivated and self-starter lead professional that consistently brings a high level of dedication to Workday, customers, and workmates.

Defines principles, frameworks and defines technology guidances working with peers such as enterprise, information, applications and security architects. Analyzes enterprise business context to derive the future-state technology architecture.

Hands on lead with technical and management depth to drive all aspects of Hybrid Cloud Engineering; design, develop and deploy innovative solutions, technology modernization and automation via Infrastructure-as-Code

Lead, support key initiatives, project management, cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key partners, support escalations and problem solving.

Leads the analysis of the current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies, legacy and technical debt, and recommends solutions for improvement. Leads the analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprise as well as on the enterprise technology architecture.

Take lead on budgeting, forecasting, procurements, technology evaluations, control & compliance, cloud platform engineering & delivery, developing roadmaps and strategies. 

Actively monitor, optimize, and respond to system infrastructure issues, incidents to maintain overall health and security of infrastructure services, and maintain SLA & SLOs.

Hire, manage, coach and mentor a team of exceptional technology professionals to scale with Workday’s growing presence in the region.

Coordinate with global teams and provide follow the sun support.

About You

Minimum 12 years of design and implementation experience in IT, with a deep knowledge in the following technical disciplines: Cloud technologies, infrastructure and network design, application development, application programming interfaces (APIs), middleware, servers and storage, database management and operations, clustering technologies, virtualization, Active Directory, Collaboration and workspace technologies and related protocols

Strong leadership, analytical and technical skills 
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to influence in a matrixed environment

Strong skills in various technology areas, managing datacenters, Linux & Windows operating systems, microservices architectures, container orchestration platforms, DevOps and CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code using tools and technologies like Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible and scripting languages like Python, PowerShell.

Technical leadership, self-start capability, drive cloud best practices, define and implement modern technology solutions.

Deep expertise with core AWS services such as EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS etc, working experience on cost optimization strategies, cloud governance, AWS security controls, network boundary controls, and related toolsets

Ability to work in a high trust and innovative environment where collaboration is crucial
