Material Handlers are responsible for the replenishment of supplies, linen, and materials and use inventory management system tools to ensure the product is in place promptly. When you join our team, you will be part of a supportive caregiver family that will be united in shared values and purpose to fulfill our promise of being the best place to receive care and the best place to work in healthcare. 

A caregiver in this position works ​Monday-Friday 6:00 am-2:30 pm. Below is a day in the life of someone in this role! Please note that this is subject to change based on department need:

  • 6:00 am-8:00 am: Finish up previous days' work, then work on Cardinal Health deliveries, move carts off the detents and load up carts with checked in packages.
  • 8:30 am: Break.
  • 9:00 am-9:30 am: Get task list for the day. Daily orders arrive around 9 am or 9:30 am.
  • 9:30 am: Receive FedEx express packages and UPS packages.
  • 11:00 am: Receive FedEx ground packages.
  • 12:00 pm: Lunch.
  • 12:30 pm: Receive packages.
  • 1:00 pm: Send out all carts, stack and wrap all carts, reset delivery carts, then work on remaining packages until about 2:15 pm.
  • 2:15 pm: Clean up dock.
  • 2:30 pm: Clock out.


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Meets all Cleveland Clinic insurance requirements. 


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • High school diploma or GED. 

  • One year of materials management or related experience.  

  • Inventory knowledge.  

  • Basic computer skills.  

  • May require appropriate Valid Driver's License (VDL) to drive box trucks.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting items that weigh up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires the ability to push a fully loaded cart weighing up to 800 pounds and pull a 2500-pound pallet using a manual pallet jack.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Lifts and carries.
