Tencent Games’ Venture Lab is looking for a highly skilled expert to join our team as a Marketing Manager. Our mission at Venture Lab is to elevate the potential of Tencent’s portfolio studios and create a long-lasting successful impact on their games. In this role, you will work closely with studio developers, focusing on providing publishing-related advisory and support, especially for PC titles launching on Steam. This position requires frequent travel, and emphasizes a collaborative, advisory role, ensuring that our studio partners have the resources and guidance needed to succeed in an ever-evolving competitive gaming market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Propose clear and actionable marketing strategies tailored to each video game title, with a focus on maximizing visibility and engagement on the Steam platform
  • Advise studios on the execution of marketing campaigns across various channels, including digital advertising, social media, email marketing, influencer partnerships, and more – all while aligning with the overall go-to-market strategy and budget constraints
  • Continuously monitor campaign performance metrics, analyze data, and make data-driven adjustments to optimize campaign effectiveness and ROAS.
  • Provide studios with best practices on the localization of marketing materials and game content to ensure relevance and resonance across different regions and cultures (with focus on Europe & North America regions)
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including internal teams, developers, platform partners, and marketing agencies, to facilitate collaboration and drive results
  • Stay abreast and provide regular crystal ball analysis of industry trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Lead reporting and presentations to communicate campaign performance, insights, and recommendations to internal teams and studio partners.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in video game marketing, with a track record of launching successful PC titles and distribution on Steam.
  • Strong understanding of Steam publishing strategies, including but not limited to store page optimization, pricing, SKUs, Next Fest and major sales festival participation
  • Hands-on experience and deep knowledge of Steamworks / Steam analytics / UTM tools, understanding the ins-and-outs while supplementing it with other consumer insights tools
  • Strong UA skillset, including analytics and ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions, feeding these to overall GTM plan
  • Exceptional project management skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and developers.
  • Excellent fluency in English is a must
  • Passion for indie and AA video games plus a deep understanding of gaming culture and industry trends
  • Experience working in a video game publisher, working on titles across various genres with multiple studios is a plus
  • Having worked in a consultation / advisory role to video game studios is a plus, but not necessarily required
