Northrop Grumman Corporate Strategy is seeking a Principal Strategic Planner to lead analytics projects with a focus on business environment trends and strategic competitive assessments. The selected individual will execute various analyses to support enterprise-wide strategic planning, development of competitive assessments, identification of key trends, in-depth understanding of our business environment and assessment of future competitive opportunities. The individual will monitor and derive insights from competitive and customer developments that may impact our corporate strategy. The individual will support the development of executive briefings and communication of findings to strategy leadership across the company. The selected individual will lead a cross-sector community of practice to advance the strategy discipline and promote knowledge sharing across the organization.

Qualified candidates must have experience in market and competitive analysis in the aerospace and defense industry. The candidate should have familiarity with the government budget and acquisition process.  Excellent organization, communication, presentation, and data analytics skills are required.

The position reports to the Director of Strategic Planning and will be located in Falls Church, Virginia.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience; Master’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience in a related field

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience specifically in market assessment, competitive assessment and/or in a strategic consulting role

  • Experience in the aerospace and defense industry, with working knowledge of customers, priorities, and the competitive landscape

  • Experience in analyzing defense markets and data sources (Janes Markets Forecast / GPS data, DACIS, FYDP, etc.).

  • Experience analyzing the competitive landscape, competitive positioning, and competitors (portfolio, financials, strategy, etc.).

  • Able to conduct independent research and demonstrate the skills and ability to perform fairly complex tasks independently and develop solutions to a variety of complex problems.

  • Experience developing and delivering presentations

  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of government budgeting and acquisition process

  • Experience analyzing earnings and investor reports (Annual Reports, 10-Ks, 10-Qs, etc.)

  • Experience developing project objectives and creating the plan and schedule to meet those objectives

  • Experience with Tableau, Salesforce and financial analysis tools

  • Experience in a strategy/consulting role

  • Experience producing executive-level presentations and supporting material (talking points, data books, backup reports, etc.)

  • Experience producing briefings for strategy reviews

  • Experience representing an organization as a prime contact on contracts or projects and interfacing with senior internal and external personnel on significant matters often requiring coordination between organizations

  • Current DoD Secret clearance

Salary Range: $120,900.00 - $181,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
