About SimpliSafe

We’re a high-tech home security company that’s passionate about protecting the life you’ve built and our mission of keeping Every Home Secure. And we’ve created a culture here that cares just as deeply about the career you’re building. Ours is a no ego culture of collaboration and innovation where those seeking their next challenge can find big opportunities and make a huge impact on the lives of all those who we protect. We don’t just want you to work here. We want you to grow and thrive here.

We’re embracing a hybrid work model that enables our teams to split their time between office and home. Hybrid for us means we expect our teams to come together in our state-of-the-art office on two core days, typically Tuesday and Wednesday, to work together in person, and teams can choose where they work for the remainder of the week. We all benefit from flexibility and get to use the best of both worlds to get our work done.

Why are we hiring?

Well, we’re growing and thriving. So, we need smart, talented, and humble people who share our values to join us as we disrupt the home security space and relentlessly pursue our mission of keeping Every Home Secure.

Role

SimpliSafe’s Monitoring Engineering organization is looking for a Sr. Manager to lead the team building our Active Guard Outdoor Protection product. This team is responsible for maintenance and delivery of backend, web, and mobile solutions that are used by both our monitoring center staff and customers interacting with our award winning home security suite.

The ideal candidate has experience building and leading agile teams and a passion for developing people and acting as a force multiplier, while having the technical strength to get in the weeds and accurately assess and grow team performance.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage a team of 5-10 developers of varying seniority levels, from junior to staff-level
  • Hire first-class people for your team, and grow the existing team members’ careers
  • Collaborate with product owners and program managers to translate business requirements to technical work, and prioritize the execution and breakdown of the work for your team
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the team to ensure that your work provides business value, while maintaining the operational health and performance of our services
  • Ensure we’re maintaining high standards through code reviews and direct mentoring of team members
  • Identify product/resource/technical gaps and influence the direction of how those problems are solved

Skills/Experience

  • Be collaborative by nature, and be a transparent communicator
  • Experience in cloud-based environments, building microservices and distributed systems
  • Be adept at building consensus to solve technical and organizational challenges
  • Enjoy challenges and problem solving, helping to scale your team’s work and accelerate delivery
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience, with a track record of scalable delivery
  • 3-5 years of people management experience
