The warehouse lead oversees daily activities, assigns tasks, and ensures efficient work completion. They train new employees and provide ongoing support, addressing issues alongside supervisors. Additionally, they troubleshoot problems like equipment malfunctions or inventory discrepancies.

Core Responsibilities

  • Assist shift supervisors in pre-shift meetings and paperwork necessary during the shift
  • Train employees in a safe and efficient manner on material handling equipment
  • Plan and execute timely inbound and outbound deliveries, prioritizing resources
  • Responsible for escalating any issues that arise during the shift, if necessary
  • Ensure that employees are working safely, following all work rules, and that all required PPE are being worn at all times
  • Act as Wave Planner when necessary; these duties include (but are not limited to) allocating orders, releasing work to the warehouse floor, and ensuring truck turn times are within acceptable levels
  • Ensure that proper people are in the appropriate areas on the correct equipment to evenly complete work in queue
  • Required to operate Powered Industrial Equipment needed for the position
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general equivalency degree required.
  • One year of related experience is required. Previous lead or supervisory experience is highly desired.
  • Experience in a role managing multiple priorities is highly desirable
  • Experience with warehouse management systems is required. Candidates must have strong computer skills
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

  • The DC environment will include extreme cold (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical equipment such as forklifts/hi-lifts.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the loading areas.
  • Regularly standing, walking, riding, carrying, twisting, bending, balancing, seeing, hearing, and handling paperwork.
  • Regularly lift objects weighing up to 60 lbs.
