The Role: Principal Consultant, Oil Markets Midstream & Downstream (OMD) Consulting, and LP Principal

The Team: This position is in the fast-growing Middle East and Indian Subcontinent (MDEI) consulting team of the Oil Markets, Midstream & Downstream (OMD) in S&P Global Commodity Insights division. We advise clients on crude oil, refined product, storage, retail markets and custom scenarios in the MDEI region and support our clients’ understanding of the increasing interdependence between crude markets, refining, petrochemical, energy transition strategies that includes biofuels, decarbonization & low carbon fuel pathways, and the ever-developing mobility scenario.

The Impact: We are proud to have developed many pivotal market strategies for several National Oil Companies (NOCs), Independents and key stakeholders in the region and acted as commercial advisors in several recent large capital formation deals in the region. Our clients range from leading NOC’s, Governments, Lenders, Investment companies, and their associated industry bodies. We will continue leveraging our extensive regional experience, capabilities, and synergies with other S&P Global teams to deliver an aggressive growth plan in the next three years.

Responsibilities:

  • Support development, maintenance, and improvement of S&P Global’ s refinery PIMS LP model and actively work with global and regional teams on projects involving use of petroleum refinery PIMS LP modelling tool
  • To run refinery LP models to perform various economic studies and consulting projects
  • The Principal Consultant will work with multiple project managers, Directors, and other Consultants to support execution of consulting engagements across a wide-spectrum of potential activities including preparation of techno-commercial proposals and business development
  • The job will require the ability to manage simultaneously complex data including financial and economic models, while ensuring a high standard of quality
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of oil and refining market for interaction with project managers and clients, that includes company databases and tools, (Supply/Demand, Global Pricing System, Capacity Data Base, Trade Grids, etc.)
  • Capable of independent approach to support project delivery as well as on to lead work streams for the projects when needed, for the OMD Consulting team or the different wider consulting teams across Commodity Insights community
  • Work on capabilities building within the team, and knowledge sharing as an ongoing basis

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Chemical Engineering) with 10-15 years of industry/refining experience.
  • An MBA will be a strong plus
  • At least five years in refinery planning and scheduling experience using ASPEN PIMS LP model, a proficient to expert LP user with expertise in development, modification, and maintaining petroleum refinery models by using ASPEN PIMS LP modelling tool
  • In depth technical understanding and expertise of refining business with good knowledge of all refinery process units
  • A team player with ability to work well in a team with collegiate approach across S&P Global at multi levels to utilize the available resources and knowledge pool in efficient and effective manner
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills. Effective communication skills with clients and consultants across the globe
