Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Technical Leader to focus on building software that helps developers to be as productive as possible and with a platform mindset. Do you care deeply about alignment and clearing paths to get things done, doing so with an extensive background in software architecture? The Autodesk Platform Developer Enablement team is looking for a passionate, strategic and impact-oriented technologist to lead our team of distinguished and senior architects. 

You will report to the Vice President of Developer Enablement, supporting technology and decisions for existing and future products and services supporting our next-generation platform.  You will set standards, access technology stacks as well as prioritize areas of improvement and identify possible business and open-source partnerships.  You will be at the forefront and in the middle of realizing Autodesk’s platform vision, transforming multiple industries. You will also play a strategic role in influencing the company's technical direction and driving innovation.

We are a remote/hybrid first workplace. You’ll work with teammates across the globe and will travel up to 10-15% of the time for face-to-face meetings like conferences, team offsites, and customers. If you prefer office life, we have offices in numerous cites including San Francisco, Portland, Denver, Boston, and Atlanta with west coast locations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Platform Developer Enablement in the Architecture Council

  • Drive standards for both our organization and Autodesk in support of platform resilience and trust goals

  • Create and drive short and long-term technology roadmaps aligned with our product roadmaps and strategies; these roadmaps will make assertions about technology directions, customer value and improved developer velocity

  • Partnerships with other groups within Autodesk.

  • Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Experience Design within and outside the Developer Enablement team to lead decisions on future platform and technology choices (build vs buy); as well as provide strategic and tactical direction to product management, experience design and engineering/development teams

  • Champion modern software development practices

  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of architectural patterns, technologies, and trends

  • Embody and promote the Autodesk corporate culture code

  • Mentor architects and potential architects on career paths developing leaders while leading them towards success

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience leading architecture and /or engineering with both desktop and cloud at a SaaS/product/technology company

  • BS or MS in engineering or computer science or equivalent experience

  • Proven experience as a Technical Leader or similar leadership role

  • Ability to influence and shape the company's technical direction

  • Experience in an enterprise architecture leadership role at a SaaS/product/technology company, with a focus on platform

  • Experience in Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and modern software development lifecycles

  • Strong understanding of business processes and driving digital transformation

  • Demonstrated ability to inspire both business and technical alignment across different environments

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $207,400 and $335,500. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
