Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, CarbonBuilt’s Concrete Technician will carry out physical and chemical testing of cement and cementing materials, and proportioning and testing of concrete in laboratory as well field settings. Applicants must be proficient with ASTM standards of testing and be able to handle a number of different lime, silica, and/or alumina containing materials from widely varying sources to ascertain their applicability in concrete. Duties may include collecting samples, conducting physical, chemical, and mechanical property tests, analyzing data, and preparing reports.

More specifically, they will:  

  • Collaborate with other CarbonBuilt and third-party technicians responsible for conducting material, process and product testing.
  • Collaborate with other CarbonBuilders to interpret testing results and identify solutions for improved performance, quality, and cost.
  • Support the technology team in the development of new products and processes.
  • Travel overnight 10% of the time for field support. 

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Proficient in the use of computers for data analysis
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to learn and follow safety procedures

Education and Experience

  • 1-3 years experience in a construction materials laboratory or similar settings
  • Experience working with a variety of supplementary cementitious materials 
  • ACI Concrete Laboratory Certification Level 2 is preferred. 

Physical Requirements

  • The employee must frequently transport and move items up to 80 pounds
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain stationary or move throughout the workstations; also includes the ability to ascend and descend steps and ladders; and position in tight spaces.
