We are actively seeking an experienced National Manager Formation & Purpose to join our Mission team. This is a significant opportunity to lead a dynamic team and drive forward our efforts to support all staff at St Vincent’s to take up their place in leading our Mission.

In this role, you will lead the implementation of the national formation strategy and establish an evaluation framework. You will be responsible for managing state-based teams that will deliver formation, lead the ritual life of facilities, including events celebrating our history, heritage and Catholic identity, and maintain partnerships with other Catholic ministries in local contexts.  

Reporting to the National Director Ethics & Formation, you will develop operational plans and evaluate current processes to ensure that formation across St Vincent’s advances organisational strategy and delivers impact, with continuous improvement initiatives at the forefront.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced leader with the proven ability to implement a national formation plan through a collaborative approach with both internal and external stakeholders. You will have exceptional communication, organisational, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills to lead by example, while delivering and coordinating formation, education and training within our organisation.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Cultivate strong relationships across the organisation, reflecting St Vincent’s mission and values 

  • Provide exceptional leadership and management for direct reports across St Vincent’s

  • Lead and motivate teams, fostering a culture of innovation and high performance

  • Lead the implementation of a national approach to formation that delivers on St Vincent’s mission and strategy, fostering a culture of continuous improvement

  • Support the formation teams in their responsibilities for Catholic events and rituals and partnerships with other Catholic ministries in local contexts

  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders across various clinical and non-clinical teams to establish and implement the national approach to formation

  • Develop, monitor and analyse performance data and action plans based on feedback to track progress and adjust decisions across the formation portfolio, with the consistent goal of improving the quality of formation and the impact of our mission commitments

  • Identify opportunities for formation, co-design and evaluate formation initiatives and take responsibility for the delivery of such initiatives

  • Proven track record of success in leading organisational strategy and change in formation, education or training in a health or aged care setting, or a large, complex organisation from another sector

  • Demonstrated success managing large-scale projects with diverse stakeholders

  • Proven ability to lead and manage teams effectively, and the capability to communicate the mission of St Vincent’s to a diverse group of staff

  • High-level presentation, written and oral communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences

  • Highly developed organisational skills including time management and prioritisation of multiple tasks while working to tight deadlines

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders across all levels of the organization

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to motivate and inspire a team

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Word and Excel

  • Tertiary qualification in relevant discipline or qualified by experience within the health or aged care sector with an advanced understanding of Catholic identity in the context of contemporary health and aged care

  • People & Culture or strategy-related qualification or experience would be advantageous
