You know the moment. It’s the first notes of that song you love, the intro to your favorite movie, or simply the sound of someone you love saying “hello.” It’s in these moments that sound matters most.
At Bose, we believe sound is the most powerful force on earth. We’ve dedicated ourselves to improving it for nearly 60 years. And we’re passionate down to our bones about making whatever you’re listening to a little more magical.
The engineering team at Bose is a thriving, passionate, deeply skilled team of professionals from a broad range of disciplines and experiences, who share a common goal—to create products that provide transformative sound experiences.
At Bose, we’ve spent more than 50 years finding new ways to bring quality audio products to people—in their homes, in automobiles, in airplanes, and just about anywhere else that there is a possibility to enjoy music. If you are interested in the consumer electronic industry and thrive on obsessing over the design details that deliver products that people love, then this is the Co-op/Intern for you.
As a Mechanical Engineer in Consumer Product Engineering, you will be part of a team that troubleshoots problems, dives deep into technical issues and ensures our customers are delighted. In return, you will have the opportunity to learn varied mechanical engineering skills (tolerance loops, Lean thinking, structural & thermal analysis exposure, testing methods, etc.), manage multiple projects, work with a cross functional team, get your hands dirty in the lab, and work on very cool products. Additionally, you will have exposure and learn from many skilled and experienced engineers.
Required Skills:
Ability to thrive in a project environment, with a bias toward action.
Organizational skills, multitasking skills and ability to manage your time.
Engineering thinking with the ability to look across multiple engineering disciplines (Acoustics, EE, ME, SW).
Strong communication (both verbal and written).
Have 3D-CAD skills, preferably in Siemens NX.
Have prior product design experience in consumer electronics from course work or a prior internship.
Familiar with product design rules - Plastic part design, fixture design, sheet metal design.
Able to create prototypes for evaluation using rapid prototype techniques: 3D printing, FDM, machining, treaded inserts, etc.
Experience with mechanical lab tools: Instron, building fixtures, assembling prototypes, etc.
Advanced Excel skills for interpreting data.
