Position Description:

Deploys applications on-premises, as well as to public and private Cloud environments (using Microsoft Azure), by leveraging tools -- Java, Spring, Angular, and Oracle. Designs and develops application Web User Interface (UI) using Angular Framework, Jasmine, Karma, JavaScript, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and JSON. Deploys and runs Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) in the Cloud (Azure Pipelines) through automation with integrated security and testing. Performs Database coding and debugging using SQL. Automates the integration of code changes from multiple contributors into a single software project through the use of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices and open-source platforms -- Jenkins, GIT, Maven, and JIRA. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing and configuring Web applications in a financial services environment, using Angular, Java, and REST Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). 

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing and configuring Web applications in a financial services environment, using Angular, Java, and REST Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing, developing, and implementing large-scale digital platform-based REST services, using Java/J2EE (Spring framework, Servlets, Springboot, JPA, and Hibernate) according to Test Driven Development (TDD) and Agile methodologies; applying user authentication and authorization techniques to secure Web applications, using JWT, OAuth, and Azure AD; designing and developing resilient and scalable Cloud-native SOAP and REST APIs to communicate via HTTPS, MQ, and Apache Kafka; and performing testing of APIs using Postman, SoapUI, and Selenium.  
  • DE designing and developing Web-based UI applications using Angular framework; creating web page functionalities using HTML, JavaScript, and CSS; testing UI applications using Angular testing frameworks Jasmine and Karma; making UI applications easier to use, navigate, and maintain, using modern Angular libraries, NgGrid, Material, Router, Ngx, and Bootstrap; and conducting functional and performance testing of UI applications, using Selenium, RushHour, and Apache JMeter. 
  • DE participating in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) -- performing CI/CD using Jenkins, Cloudbees, and Starlink; performing code scanning using Sonar and Jacoco for Web applications in a Microsoft Azure environment according to DevOps principles; and deploying highly secured Web and mobile applications to Azure Cloud regions -- Azure Blob, Azure VM, and Kubernetes Containers. 
  • DE optimizing application performance and resolving memory leakage, using Java VisualVM and Datadog; improving application quality using Test Driven Development (TDD), Agile development methodologies, and UI automation testing; identifying, analyzing and resolving application and system bottlenecks, using monitoring tools (Splunk and Datadog); creating and maintaining large-scale batch processing applications for report generation, using Java and Springbatch running on enterprise databases Oracle and Postgre using PL/SQL programming; and applying scaling techniques for applications using Avi and API Gateways (Azure).

Salary:  $152,875.00 to $166,000.00/year.
