Job Description Summary

This is a key role reporting to the Senior Director for Global Pensions & UK Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) for GE Vernova and will be responsible for overseeing the strategic asset allocation and enhance transparency for GE Vernova’s pension assets across ~xx+ pension plans across the EMEA region. The successful candidate will be someone who demonstrates understanding of ‘defined benefits plans’ and apply knowledge of pension management techniques to collaborate with Finance, HR, and Legal functions as well as external advisors to optimize the pension landscape and improve funded status. In addition, this role will support the UK Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) ensure appropriate tax accounting arrangements are maintained for all GE Vernova UK group entities and branches to meet external statutory and tax filing obligations. This will also include continuous application of governance with regards to relevant processes, systems and internal controls to reduce misstatement risk to materially acceptable levels.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

Pensions EMEA

  • Enhance the transparency across asset/ liabilities view for all GEV Plans within EMEA region.
  • This role will manage day to day operations for EMEA Pension Plans and provide support to other global plans.
  • This role will require to work closely with the local governance board on the investment strategy.
  • The role requires close collaboration with Finance, HR, and Legal functions as well as external advisors to optimize the pension landscape and improve funded status of GE Vernova’s Pension plans within EMEA.
  • Support the development of an overall pension strategy and collaborate with the EMEA Pensions teams. Key stakeholder and contributor to the overall pension simplification project working closely with EY.
  • Proactively advise boards on inherent risks in these plans with specific focus on larger DB plans
  • Collaborate with external advisors, actuaries, consultants to lead asset liability modeling (ALM) studies, recommend strategic asset allocation, hedge ratio targets and manage the annual EROA process.
  • Maintain investment policy statement and oversee external investment manager relationship to ensure assets managed in compliance with investment strategy and risk constraints.
  • Maintain the overall model for Pension and post retirements and consult with Controllership and FP&A teams to forecast P&L, Balance sheet and cash flow.
  • This role will require regular presentations & discussions to Investment Committee across EMEA.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and oversee investment related activities for 10K pension disclosure reporting through consolidation and review of asset levelling, reconciliation to custodian data and working closely with Deloitte though the annual audit.
  • Assist in ad-hoc pension projects.

SAO - Manager

  • Key support for SAO and UK Tax Leader in all SAO/HMRC matters including contributions to the annual Business Risk Review (BRR+) meeting with HMRC.
  • Monitor external statutory and tax filings of UK group entities and drive accuracy and timeliness of filings. Specifically, the tax accounting processes and filings in scope include but are not limited to Corporate Taxes, VAT, Customs, Employment Taxes, Transfer Pricing, and the Construction Industry Scheme.
  • Manage and optimize annual SAO certificate submission process, take the lead in working with the relevant internal and external subject matter experts.
  • Ensure continuous and consistent governance & risk management of accounting processes and systems relevant for external filings, collaborating closely with relevant stakeholders in business/segment teams.
  • Monitor and document risk-based testing covering all material accounting processes.
  • Consult with subject matter experts (e.g. finance, tax, HR/Payroll, Audit Staff, Properties, Supply Chain and/or external advisors) as well as HMRC to identify areas for review and testing.
  • Continuously and promptly project-manage the remediation of identified accounting process and/or system weaknesses and drive improvements with relevant stakeholders in business/segment teams or GE Vernova HQ teams; monitor and track action items, timeliness and ownership.
  • Establish and maintain communication and operating rhythms with relevant functions and subject matter experts to ensure continuous governance.
  • Assist in ad hoc SAO related project (e.g. HMRC Governance Questionnaire)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience/ knowledge.
  • Significant/relevant experience.
  • Experience in SOX and/or Internal Audit.
  • Advanced presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.

Desired Characteristics

  • Actuarial experience highly desirable.
  • Prior experience and expertise in managing or advising corporate pensions is highly desirable.
  • Experience in Investment related field; investment operations experience a plus.
  • Risk and Controls testing experience highly desirable.
  • Background in finance, controllership and/or audit.
  • Knowledge in tax accounting arrangements and processes.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, ability to create efficiencies.
  • Commitment to highest standards of quality and integrity.
  • Good interpersonal skills and team working capabilities.
