Who we are

With its A.I.-powered robotic technology platform, Symbotic is changing the way consumer goods move through the supply chain. Intelligent software orchestrates advanced robots in a high-density, end-to-end system – reinventing warehouse automation for increased efficiency, speed and flexibility.

What we need

We are looking for an experienced AutoCAD Designer to join our Systems Layout & Structural Engineering Team. This role focuses on producing accurate 2D AutoCAD drawings for steel structures, automation systems, and largescale robotics projects. While all deliverables are created in 2D AutoCAD, this position requires regular coordination with our 3D Revit Team to ensure alignment between 2D layouts and 3D models.

The ideal candidate is detail oriented, technically strong, and capable of working independently on moderately complex design tasks while supporting senior designers and engineers across multiple disciplines.

This position requires on-site presence at our Wilmington, MA HQ. Travel up to 20% as required for project and team support.

What we do

The System Layout Engineering team is part of the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Organization, which is responsible for developing the customer’s warehouse layout, facilitating supply chain execution, and delivering world-class support to the installation team. The System Layout Engineering team drives warehouse design excellence through the incorporation of internal and external customer feedback with a consistent focus on reducing costs for both material and project execution lead times.

What you'll do

  • Create, revise, and maintain 2D AutoCAD drawings for structural layouts, automation systems, and equipment arrangements.

  • Collaborate with the 3D Revit Team to ensure 2D drawings accurately reflect 3D model geometry, clearances, and design intent.

  • Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and architectural plans to develop accurate design packages.

  • Perform drawing checks for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established CAD standards.

  • Maintain organized drawing files, revision histories, and documentation records.

  • Support Designers and Engineers on large or complex projects by preparing layouts, updating drawings, and incorporating design changes.

  • Identify minor design issues and propose practical solutions within established guidelines.

  • Follow established CAD standards, templates, and workflows, and provide feedback for continuous improvement.

  • Coordinate with internal teams—including sales, engineering, manufacturing, and installation—to clarify design requirements and resolve drawing related questions.

  • Produce accurate drawings that reduce rework, field questions, and installation delays.

  • Deliver drawing updates and revisions on schedule to support project timelines.

  • Maintain high levels of accuracy and consistency across all drawing packages.

  • Contribute to team efficiency by following standards and helping identify opportunities for workflow improvements.

  • Support the overall quality of project deliverables through careful attention to detail and proactive communication.

What you'll need

  • This position requires on-site presence at our Wilmington, MA HQ. Travel up to 20% as required for project and team support.

  • Minimum of 2 years of AutoCAD design experience in engineering, architecture, manufacturing, or related fields.

  • Strong proficiency in 2D AutoCAD with the ability to produce detailed and accurate drawings.

  • Solid understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances, and documentation practices.

  • Ability to work independently on moderately complex tasks with guidance from senior designers when needed.

  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.

  • Experience in material handling, automation systems, or industrial environments is a plus.

Our Environment

  • Up to 20% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.

  • The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
