Yahoo is seeking a Principal Engineer with extensive experience in design platforms to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and evolving Yahoo's design system, providing technical leadership, and delivering innovative solutions that enable our designers to create world-class products.
Responsibilities:
Develop and evolve Yahoo's design system, including defining the technical architecture, selecting the right technologies, and ensuring the design system is scalable, reliable, and secure.
Collaborate with product teams, designers, and engineers to understand their requirements, and provide guidance on how to best leverage the design platform to deliver great user experiences.
Mentor and coach a team of engineers, providing technical guidance and leadership, and promoting a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Work with cross-functional teams to ensure that the design platform integrates seamlessly with other systems, and that all dependencies are well-managed.
Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and other technical forums, and provide valuable input that helps drive the evolution of Yahoo's engineering practices.
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 1 year of experience in designing and developing design systems.
Strong technical leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of engineers.
In-depth knowledge of design systems, and experience working with design tools such as Sketch, Figma, or Adobe Creative Suite.
Expertise in front-end web technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and experience working with modern web frameworks such as React or Angular.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

The compensation for this position ranges from $143,625.00 - $299,375.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
