Job Description

The Project

ACCIONA has been selected to deliver Western Harbour Tunnel – Stage 2, Sydney’s third harbour crossing. The new Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) will connect to WestConnex at the Rozelle Interchange, cross underneath Sydney Harbour between Birchgrove and Waverton, and connect with the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney.

Project scope includes: 

  • Construction of approximately 4.8 kilometres of mainline tunnels with three lanes in each direction. 
  • Civil, Mechanical and Electrical fitout of Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunnels. 
  • Surface level work, including on and off ramps and tie-in work to the Warringah Freeway. 

 

As part of the project, ACCIONA is partnering with TfNSW to deliver the vision for Berrys Bay from a working waterfront into foreshore public parklands. The NSW Government is committed to improving public open space and plans to deliver a new foreshore park at Berrys Bay for the benefit of the local community.​

 

In line with the above, ACCIONA are looking for a full-time Site Engineer to join our Operational Services Team and play a key role in helping us deliver this iconic public space. Working from our base in the heart of the North Sydney CBD, you will collaborate as a team player to actively contribute to construction planning and delivery.  

 

This role will be required to:  

  • Coordinate planning of works to optimize scheduling, ensuring critical risks within construction tasks are identified and managed to meet or exceed Safety, Environment, Quality targets.
  • Manage delivery of daily construction activities in collaboration with engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, designers, support staff and client representatives  
  • Conduct risk assessments, identify hazards, and enforce safety protocols to mitigate hazards related to project operations. 
  • Implement and maintain strict quality control measures to ensure compliance with engineering standards and specifications throughout construction.
  • Prepare budgets, accruals, and take-offs and develop first principle estimates
  • Monitor daily costs and production
  • Review design and construction plans, schedules, temporary works designs, method statements and quality and safety documents relating to the scope of works  
  • Placemaking and Social Value: Integrate placemaking principles into project planning and execution to enhance community spaces, promote social interaction, and improve the quality of life for local residents. Foster relationships with key stakeholders to ensure the project delivers long-term social value and benefits.

Required Skills and Competencies

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in earthworks, marine and structural engineering (advantageous).  
  • Well-developed communication skills and an ability to build and maintain relationships with a broad range of subcontractors, local authorities, and internal staff.
