Position Summary:

As Associate Director, Strategic Projects (m/f/d) you will play a crucial role in driving the success and growth of our organization. You will be part of the Strategy & Operations Team and report directly into the Head of Strategy & Operations Germany. The core of this role encompasses the lead of Management Team - endorsed, strategic projects/ programmes for BMS Germany. You will closely collaborate with various teams, including business units, enabling functions, medical & access to ensure the successful execution and sustainable implementation of strategic projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead of BMS Germany strategic/ transformation/ priority projects/ programmes

  • Setup and reinforcement of project/ programme governance
  • Lead of cross-functional teams to effectively execute strategic projects
  • Definition of KPIs to monitor project progress and success; performance monitoring and reporting
  • Sustainable embedment of projects/ programmes to ensure long-term success and continuous improvement; includes change mgmt.
  • Risk management & quality assurance for project deliverables; initiation of corrective measures if required
  • Budget & resource management

Project and initiative portfolio management & steering

  • Create and maintain transparency on BMS Germany´s portfolio of strategic projects & initiatives
  • Enable project & initiative portfolio prioritization

Central hub for project management excellence and continuous evolution

  • Manage central project management excellence hub and resources
  • Systematically enhance project management capabilities and ways of working within the organization, e.g. via sharing best practices, tools & templates
  • Serve as sparring partner for teams on project management excellence standards


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master degree or equivalent higher education
  • At least 5 years of experience related to advanced project management and project portfolio management; Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex projects and programs
  • Multi year work experience within the pharmaceutical industry or broader Health Care environment; in-depth understanding of pharma commercial and competitive environment
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Persuasiveness at Executive Stakeholder level
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software

Success metrics:

  • Successful delivery of strategic/ transformation projects/ programs within defined timelines and budgets
  • Achievement of project/ program objectives and goals
  • Positive feedback from stakeholders on program performance and impact
  • Improvement in key metrics, such as business impact, customer satisfaction, revenue growth, or cost savings
