Job Summary

The Stroke and Chest Pain Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of comprehensive programs designed to improve the quality of care for patients with stroke and chest pain. This role ensures compliance with national guidelines, regulatory standards, and accreditation requirements while serving as a clinical resource, educator, and liaison across departments. The coordinator works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, ancillary staff, and leadership to enhance patient outcomes and streamline care processes.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of the Stroke and Chest Pain programs, including data collection, analysis, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for internal stakeholders and external agencies, including regulatory bodies and accreditation organizations (e.g., The Joint Commission, American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology).
  • Educate staff, patients, families, and the community on stroke and chest pain awareness, prevention, treatment, and recovery.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary case reviews, mock tracers, and team meetings to ensure adherence to evidence-based practice and standards of care.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor protocols, policies, and pathways to support timely diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of stroke and chest pain patients.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and report outcomes to leadership, quality committees, and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Provide support for EMS and community outreach programs, strengthening continuity of care across the continuum.
  • Act as a resource and mentor to clinical staff, promoting professional development and best practices in acute and post-acute care management.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current state licensure required; MSN preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in critical care, emergency, or cardiovascular/neuro specialty care.
  • Knowledge of stroke and chest pain standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
  • Experience with data management, quality improvement, and accreditation surveys preferred.

Working Conditions

This position requires flexibility, with occasional evening or weekend hours for education, outreach, and regulatory preparation. The coordinator must demonstrate critical thinking, adaptability, and the ability to work independently while leading multidisciplinary teams.
