The R&D Software Engineer will advance the capabilities of the Commander, Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command (CNMOC) by providing research and development and software support. The position includes design, development, and testing of improvements to the CNMOC enterprise architectural methods for storage, discovery, dissemination, analytics, and visualization of enterprise data holdings. This includes potential support for web applications, user interfaces, geo-processing tools, GIS map services, REST interfaces, database manipulation applications/interfaces, and workflow management tools. CNMOC is located at NASA’s Stennis Space Center and the work would be performed both in CNMOC and Radiance facilities.

Job Responsibilities:

• Research, prototype, test, and deploy enterprise architecture solutions for data storage, analytics, and dissemination in on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments
• Work collaboratively with a team of contractors and government civilians
• Present work completed to CNMOC

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in software/computer engineering or computer science.
• Ability to communicate technical details of work
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment and take ownership for segments of a project

Required Experience

• 3+ years’ experience in Software Develop, GIS, or Enterprise Architecture
• U.S Citizenship with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI Security Clearance

Desired Experience

• Active TS/SCI
• Security + Certification
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker or other Cloud/DevSecOps tools
• Experience with AWS or other cloud solutions
• Experience with data servers such as ERDDAP, GeoServer, ArcGIS server
• Programming languages such as Java and Python
