What you will do
Provide CAD Drafting support for the design department. Prepare technical drawings and documentation for fire alarm system installations.
How you will do it
- Work with a designer to prepare CAD drawings based on project requirements. Drawings include floorplans, calculations, details, and other diagrams as needed.
- Support internal customers by addressing questions and other support requests.
- Interact with other team members to accomplish tasks, achieve common goals, solve problems, resolve conflicts, and measure achievements.
- Use department processes and goals when planning self-directed work activities.
- Complete administrative tasks.
- Collaborates with the Project System Specialist and sales team to ensure timely, accurate, and profitable project turnaround.
- Prepares moderately complex system design drawings, under minimal supervision, including floor plan layouts, interconnection drawings, and installation detail drawings.
- Prepares panel configuration layouts, and riser diagrams, along with battery calculations and voltage drop calculations for assigned projects under the guidance of a project design specialist.
- Prepares owner/operation manuals and records drawings using CAD software.
- Checks accuracy of own work and ensures all time is properly coded to projects.
- Ensures all work is reviewed for clarity, completeness, and conformity to standards/specifications by a Lead Support CAD Technician or a Project Systems Specialist.
- Provides support to other CAD level I employees.
- Maintains project drawing files, drawing library, and associated records and documentation per corporate policy.
- Operates and maintains CAD equipment, plotters, and other drawing reproduction equipment and other responsibilities as required.
- Organizes and plans own workload and additionally works with other design teams when required.
- Facilitates reviews of initial designs of medium complexity to provide value-engineered/code-compliant solutions where required.
- Completes detailed calculations to verify system design meets code and standard requirements.
- Develop a bill of materials to facilitate construction.
- Provides support to Project Managers when orders have been received to assist in maintaining and/or improving project margins.
- Provides answers to questions from customers, contractors, and authorities, having jurisdiction, as they arise.
- Supports field technical staff and subcontractors with technical support and design inquiries.
- Monitors actual hours to ensure all time is properly coded to projects and are within originally estimated hours sold on the projects.
What we look for
Required
- Skilled in the use of AutoCAD versions 2018 and higher.
- Working knowledge of MS Office sites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Ability to work with direction, independently or as a member of a team.
- Ability to organize and perform multiple assignments and responsibilities.
- Must be able to meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Effective and professional communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with internal customers.
Preferred
- Knowledge of fire alarm and security system principles.
- Basic knowledge of low-voltage electrical system schematics and diagrams.
- Working knowledge of REVIT/BIM.
