The Analog Garage is a high-energy, fast-paced, advanced R&D team within the CTO Office of Analog Devices (ADI) at our downtown Boston location. Our mission is to empower ADI by pioneering breakthrough technologies. Our innovation funnel spans exciting domains including artificial intelligence, robotics, life sciences, green energy, human-machine interfaces, and more.

As the Head of Business Discovery in the Analog Garage, you will lead and inspire a talented team with strong technical and business backgrounds to drive business strategy and decision-making in all phases of the innovation funnel: customer discovery, market research, hypothesis testing during early R&D, MVP definition and go-to-market strategy. You and your team will work closely with Garage researchers to coevolve new concepts for breakthrough technology and decide which features or performance attributes are most likely to determine commercial success.

Many of our programs are done in tight collaboration with internal ADI business units (BUs) that run adjacent to the CTO office. Building solid relationships with these teams and understanding their businesses, applications, and customers’ needs are critical to the Garage’s success. In many cases, you'll be working closely with these groups to align on commercialization strategy and paths to market.

Activities the Business Discovery team drives:

  • Researching industry, technology and application trends
  • Assessing the competitive landscape and how it is evolving
  • Conducting customer discovery to understand emerging customer needs and applications
  • Defining and testing our value proposition and how we sustain an advantage
  • Crafting product specifications and working with the technical team to execute
  • Sustaining close collaborations across Analog Devices' vertical and emerging business units.
  • Initiating partnership engagements and maintaining great partner relationships
  • Creating and implementing go-to-market strategy

 What you will do

  • Set the vision and structure for the Business Discovery team as it reintegrates into the Analog Garage.
  • Direct the Business Discovery team that is responsible for the formation, development and evolution of business and application strategy across all Garage programs.
  • Develop, mentor, and grow the existing Business Discovery team in the Analog Garage.
  • Foster a culture around out-of-the-box thinking, exploration, experimentation as well as critical and robust analysis to help evolve creative and effective commercial strategies across the programs.
  • Improve processes and workflows to achieve higher resource efficiency
  • Make funding decisions on research tools, services and consultants.
  • Serve on the Garage leadership team to help shape the overall Garage program pipeline and strategy.
  • Make (or support) presentations to senior leadership on Garage program strategy and commercial progress.
  • Lead customer engagement strategy for the Garage and the Boston Office.
  • Provide emerging technology & application insights to support CTO vision organizations.

We would love to have you on our team if these sound like you:

  • 15 years of experience in product strategy / leadership roles
  • Comfortable working on pre-product programs with longer timelines and higher levels of uncertainty
  • Creative and critical thinker with strong business acumen and a technical background.
  • MBA or equivalent business experience
  • Outstanding communication skills, adept at presenting complex ideas to diverse audiences and driving consensus among stakeholders
  • Adaptable and resilient leader, capable of navigating ambiguity and driving results
  • Collaborative mindset; interacting closely with technical and business teams; able to bring divergent viewpoints together to find optimal paths forward
  • Previous business consulting experience with major consulting companies would be a plus.
