Job Description

The Team Lead, Supplier Sustainability Assessments at Philips is a pivotal role within the organization’s sustainability and supply chain management functions. Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership and Team Management

  • Leading a Team: Supervise, empower, and guide a team of Supplier Sustainability Assessors who are responsible for evaluating supplier performance against Philips’ sustainability criteria.
  • Training and Development: Ensure team members are well-trained on assessment methodologies, key sustainability standards, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Performance Monitoring: Set clear objectives, monitor performance, and provide constructive feedback.

2. Program Execution

  • Assessment Oversight: Oversee the scheduling, planning, and execution of supplier assessments, both remotely and on-site.
  • Methodology Development: Contribute to the evolution of Philips’ supplier sustainability assessment processes, incorporating best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Data Analysis: Review and analyze assessment results, identify trends or issues, and work with suppliers to develop corrective action plans where needed.
  • Integrate new tools and technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, to accelerate continuous improvement.

3. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Internal Collaboration: Work closely with procurement, sourcing, health & safety, environmental affairs, and legal teams to align sustainability goals and programs.
  • External Interaction: Engage with suppliers at all levels, communicating expectations, providing guidance on improvements, and building strategic partnerships.

4. Reporting and Communication

  • Status Updates: Provide regular updates to senior management on assessment outcomes, emerging risks, and progress against sustainability targets.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of assessments, audit findings, and supplier communications.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive lessons learned and best practices into ongoing supplier development and training programs.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in, Sustainability, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering or related field.
  • Experience: >15 years of experience in supply chain management, procurement, including direct experience with continuous improvement and/or lean.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of manufacturing and sustainability standards, excellent analytical skills, leadership abilities, and effective communication.
  • Certifications: Professional accreditations such as Lead Auditor (ISO 14001/9001/45001), SA8000, or similar are advantageous.
