As a Director of Accounting, you will be responsible for the effective operation of the local accounting department including planning, execution, and resource management in line with the Western Union strategy.  The scope of the accounting activities includes accounts payable, general ledger, audited statutory financial statements, and regulatory compliance. You would be performing below responsibilities -

Role Responsibilities

• Oversee and set strategy for accounts payable department including cross functional procure to pay processes
• Monthly General Ledger and Group reporting (USGAAP) and balance sheet reconciliations in line with Western Union policies, ensuring the accuracy of all financial information, and maintaining a best-in-class control environment.
• Statutory Financial statements (IFRS and Local GAAPs) and related audits for legal entities, as well as ensuring fiscal compliance (VAT returns etc) for entities under your responsibility.
• Board, Sub-Committee and Management Reporting for legal entities under your responsibility, including Financial Performance, Financial Position, Regulatory Compliance, Risks, Control Environment and Resourcing, and Outsourcing
• Ensuring Regulatory Compliance for licensed entities for safeguarding of customer funds, capital adequacy and regulatory reporting.
• Supporting the Business and other stakeholders on matters relating to the execution of Western Union’s strategy.
• Plans and executes other related activities as assigned (e.g. M&A support, Capital Management etc)

Role Requirements

• 15+ years of financial accounting experience with 7 years in leadership profile.
• ACCA / CPA/ CA or any equivalent certification is a must.
• Expert knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS
• Strong experience to AP, Processes, Audit finance statements, settle agent balances, financial reporting, ledger, accounting.
• Should have experience in directing the accounting process for business unit acquisitions.
• Must have perform all duties inherent in a managerial role. Provides guidance, planning, and direction for functional units they support.
• Proven track record of complex problem solving and decision-making ability.  Ability to build and enforce programs and policies with the intent of meeting local regulatory requirements and global minimum standards.  Strong analytical skills.
• Effective leader and team player.  Must be a strong, decisive, bottom-line and action-oriented manager of people and projects, who can obtain results.  Effective communicator, orally and in writing. .
