What You Will Contribute To Altos

We are looking for a creative and collaborative individual to join our multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineering building the computational and data platforms that will enable Altos to achieve its mission. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment that stresses teamwork, transparency, scientific excellence, originality, and integrity. As a computational scientist you will help to accelerate and optimize our progress in developing foundation models for multiscale biology.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a team of engineers and scientists to develop novel computational and machine learning platforms using single-cell, multi-omics, and spatial omics data, in the context of aging and disease.
  • Collaborate closely with experimentalists to design and execute on data collection efforts to be used in computational modeling efforts.
  • Help in processing internal and external NGS sequencing and spatial omics data according to Altos’ standards.
  • Partner with other computational scientists to establish automated, robust, and efficient analytical pipelines for reproducible research.
  • Contributes to seminars and other scientific initiatives within Altos and the broader scientific community

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in Computational Biology, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Statistics, or a related discipline
  • 0-5 years of relevant work experience in either an academic or biotechnology industry setting
  • A strong interest in conducting omics-based research in a collaborative setting
  • Track record publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Proficiency in statistical methods and machine learning methods
  • Ability to communicate and explain the design, results, conclusions and the impact of findings to both scientific and nonscientific staff

Preferred Qualifications

  • Track record of analysis of NGS data at single-cell and bulk resolution, including RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, DNA methylation, and others.
  • Experience in analysis and processing of spatial transcriptomics data from tissues, including integration with imaging-based data modalities (H&E and/or IF).
  • Experience in developing tools in R or python, and experience with relevant repositories.
  • Working knowledge and experience of deep learning techniques and generative models.
  • Experience performing large-scale data analysis using HPCs.
  • Familiarity with multimodal data integration.

 

The salary range for San Diego, CA:

  • Scientist I, Computational Biology: $131,750 - $178,250
  • Scientist II, Computational Biology: $155,000 - $214,800

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
