Job purpose:

The Vx R&D Shipping Specialist will receive all shipment requests for specialty R&D materials from start to finish, allowing GSK to ship R&D materials reliably, safely, and in compliance with all applicable regulations. This position will give time back to science by navigating customs requirements, coordinating the logistical set up of shipments with courier vendors, and reviewing documentation to prevent delays to shipment.

Your responsibilities:

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress your career. These responsibilities include some of the following :

  • Consolidate all shipping responsibilities from Lab Ops, scientists, various couriers into one central SPOC / SME
  • Manage Third Party Oversight, Communication, Strategy, Payment
  • You manage all the documentation related with the role
  • Request HTS codes, assign Incoterms, assess if Dangerous Goods (or consultant) is needed, escalate need for permits to global lead, utilize the existing valuation tool to assign values to shipments
  • Track shipments, take request from scientist & send to appropriate courier, collect packages, safely package the material & deliver to appropriate teams (by site)
  • Work directly with vendor to schedule shipments, identify & escalate problems
  • Manage imports & liaise with other country teammates for knowledge sharing & assistance
  • You are the primary interface between science & vendor
  • Build out documentation, best practices, ways of working for streamlined efficiencies in Vx R&D Shipping

Why you?

Qualifications & Skills:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor degree in Logistics or in any scientific related field
  • 5 years of experience in logistics/ shipping/ international trade environment
  • knowledge and understanding of logistics and/or the international trade
  • Proven planning & organizational skills; problem solving mindset.
  • Demonstrated experience in cross-border regulations, procedures, and associated customs documentation
  • Customer facing / stakeholder management
  • Experience in vendor management (couriers, brokers)
  • Fluency in English, oral and written, is a must for this position, any other language is an asset

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Master degree in logistic or in any scientific field
  • Proven experience in a pharmaceutical environment
  • Good knowledge of GSK’s shipping operation
  • Fluency in English and French
  • Formal training on shipping / international logistics
  • Logistic certification (e.g, ADR, IATA, DOT,etc)
