Job Description Summary:

Assists physicians with endoscopic procedures by setting up the equipment, helping with the actual procedure, cleaning the equipment and room, and entering charges. Assists nursing staff with clerical duties and patient care when available.

Responsibilities And Duties:

20%
Assists in providing timely and efficient room/case turnover by gathering, checking, organizing dispensing and/or processing equipment, gas cylinders, supplies and instruments; open sterile supplies and instruments. Precepts new O.R. Assistants as needed.

20%
Assists with OR readiness through patient transportation, positioning and room preparation; positions patients for procedure.

60%
At the direction of and under the direct supervision of the surgeon, may act as a second assistant to surgeon and perform intraoperative duties. May perform neural monitoring and anesthesia tech duties as directed

Minimum Qualifications:

High School or GED (Required)BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association

Additional Job Description:

Work requires a high school level of communication and/or math skills plus a year or less of training and 3 to 6 months of time on the job. No Certification required. Work requires the ability to gather and interpret data in situations where the information or problems are not difficult or complex. Work requires exchanging factual information such as interpreting and explaining instructions and procedures to patients/families and contacting outside suppliers. Work is performed in accordance with instructions and procedures but requires organizing work, setting priorities, and informing supervision when exceptions are made.
