About the Role
As a Senior Fullstack Engineer at Uber Freight, you will be instrumental in designing and building end-to-end systems that power our logistics platform, from backend services and APIs to the React-based web interfaces used by our customers. You’ll work at the intersection of user experience and business logic, collaborating across product, design, and engineering to deliver seamless, scalable solutions. Your technical breadth and leadership will help define the architecture and best practices across the stack, and you’ll mentor peers to raise the engineering bar across the team.

What the Candidate Will Do

  • Design, build, and maintain fullstack applications using modern technologies like Go/Java and React.
  • Lead architecture and design discussions for systems that span both backend and frontend components.
  • Write secure, scalable, and maintainable code and advocate for engineering excellence across testing, code quality, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to scope, implement, and deliver impactful product features.
  • Contribute to the long-term technical roadmap and proactively identify improvements across the stack.
  • Guide and mentor engineers, fostering technical growth and promoting a culture of ownership and collaboration.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across frontend and backend layers in production environments.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years working across both backend and frontend systems.
  • Strong coding skills in one or more backend languages (Go, Java, Python, or C++) and frontend technologies (React, TypeScript, HTML/CSS).
  • Experience building scalable microservices and frontend applications integrated with APIs.
  • Deep understanding of web performance, API design, and data modeling.
  • Experience with testing practices across backend and frontend (unit, integration, and end-to-end).
  • Proven ability to lead projects and mentor engineers.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and production support.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with MySQL or Cassandra, and modern deployment tools.
  • Familiarity with frontend component libraries or design systems.
  • Experience working on logistics, transportation, or enterprise-scale platforms.
  • Comfortable working in a monorepo or polyrepo environment.
  • Strong product sense and attention to UX quality is a plus.
