The Opportunity
In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.
The role will be an integral part of the US Electrophysiology Strategic Pricing & Commercial Effectiveness Team. This exciting opportunity is pivotal in the development and implementation of pricing strategy and tactical commercial growth plans to both launch new products and optimize the existing product portfolio. The candidate will play a vital, highly visible role in supporting decision-making regarding the overall health of the business via collaboration with Contracting, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Enterprise Accounts. This role will report to the Manager of US Electrophysiology Pricing & Contracting Strategy and will work in a matrix-approach within the organization – excellent analytic, communication and presentation skills are required.
What You’ll Work On
- Quickly develop understanding of Electrophysiology (EP) products, pricing, procedures and market dynamics. Essential success factors for the position include attention to detail and high-level analytical skills.
- Collaborate with key business partners: Strategy, Marketing, Sales, Commercial Operations, Pricing, Enterprise Accounts, & Finance. Understand downstream needs (Field) and upstream needs to act as an efficient bridge between the teams.
- Perform data mining, cleansing, and manipulation; identify necessary data elements and their sources, use appropriate tools to acquire and consolidate large volumes of data from different sources, and identify and resolve any irrelevant, corrupt, missing, or incongruent data
- Collecting and analyzing data to understand US EP Market trends, sales trends, pricing trends, customer behavior, and other relevant metrics to identify opportunities for growth and create impactful, future strategies.
- Perform account/customer segmentation analytics and create account targeting reports; work with regional and local marketing teams to identify key customer targets
- Identify process improvements by evaluating existing sales processes and identifying opportunities for streamlining and optimization to improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Support the US Commercial Effectiveness Organization in tracking and reporting Abbott’s share position and performance metrics that will be used in tactical and strategic business decisions for Abbott’s Electrophysiology products
- Perform independent analyses and create/maintain global models in the areas of market research, product line trends and product mix changes
- Analyze existing contracting and rebate strategies and improve deal models to quantify sales and profitability impact to customer segments, brands and markets
- Derive insights that leads into actionable pricing recommendations and tactical business decisions for the Electrophysiology product portfolio.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred. Background in Finance, Statistics, Data Management, Marketing, Math or other quantitative discipline is helpful
- 2+ years’ experience in analyst role
- Proven ability to translate large amounts of data into actionable insights and coherent strategies
- Proficiency in Excel, Business Intelligence tools (i.e., Tableau/Power BI) and Power Point
- Extreme attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Desire to work in a fast paced, growing, deadline driven, startup-up environment. Ability to inform rapid, but fact-based decision-making with imperfect data. Self-motivated, driven to achieve team commitments
- Curious/Inquisitive: Investigates the current situation, asks the relevant questions needed to get the whole picture; then provides specific actionable recommendations
- Ability to travel up to 10% - both domestic and international
- Ability to effectively prioritize projects that align with corporate priorities
- Excellent planning, organization, and communication skills
