Job Description:

Blizzard Entertainment has an opening for a versatile Associate Director to join our Game Security Engineering team on Battle.net.

As an experienced technical manager, you'll manage a team of highly specialized security engineers and play a pivotal role crafting the people and technology that protect our games and customers. You will work with all games and software platforms produced by Blizzard or operated through Battle.net, and have a direct impact on their success. You will have the autonomy to lead this team’s mission, advise the evolution of our product offerings, and expand our impact across Blizzard and beyond!

This position has been approved for fully remote work with the potential for some light travel. We also welcome candidate who would like to work in a hybrid capacity based out of Albany, NY, Irvine, CA or Austin, TX.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a talented team of engineers building game security technology and tools
  • Advance game security products, technologies, and services
  • Keep up with changes in our games, our industry, and the attacks we face
  • Draw on extensive technical experience to understand change implications from a broad technical perspective, adding a ‘big picture’ view to the discussions.
  • Facilitate regularly scheduled team meetings to supervise project progress and keep the team informed of changes in priority/scope.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders (Game, Platform, and Operations teams)
  • Coordinate regular performance appraisals and provide constructive feedback
  • Partner with director level leadership and above to define and complete department goals

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of engineer management experience
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Passion for leadership and advancing the team and careers of your engineers
  • History organizing, working on, and completing large software projects with broad cross-organizational impacts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with technical and non-technical personnel
  • Experience supporting business development and product development
  • A passion for Security

Pluses:

  • Bachelor’s or master's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge in specialized areas of the team, including anti cheat, reverse engineering, compilers, obfuscation, assembly programming, operating system internals
  • Experience building and deploying software at a global scale

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $155,500.00 - $287,876.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
