Project Role Description : Provide ongoing technical support and maintenance of production and development systems and software products (both remote and onsite) and for configured services running on various platforms (operating within a defined operating model and processes). Provide hardware/software support and implement technology at the operating system-level across all server and network areas, and for particular software solutions/vendors/brands. Work includes L1 and L2/ basic and intermediate level troubleshooting.

Summary: We are looking for an experienced Azure PostgreSQL Flexible Server Database Administrator with strong expertise in managing and optimizing PostgreSQL workloads on Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server. The ideal candidate should have solid experience in BAU operations, performance tuning, vacuum/autovacuum management, HA/DR failover-failback procedures, and Azure-specific operational tasks. Proficiency in SQL along with Postgres SQL Roles & Responsibilities: - Manage Azure Database for PostgreSQL – Flexible Server deployments including provisioning, configuration, scaling, and upgrades. - Proficiency in SQL along with Postgres SQL. - Perform BAU activities such as: Regular health monitoring, Backup / restore validations, User & role management, Query performance checks and Storage and compute monitoring. - Configure and tune PostgreSQL server parameters via Azure portal, CLI, or ARM templates. - Perform deep-dive performance analysis using: pg_stat_statements, Query execution plans, Slow query logs and Waits, locks, and contention analysis. - Optimize: Query execution, Indexing strategies, Table partitioning and Memory settings (work_mem, shared_buffers, autovacuum memory tuning) - Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across CPU, storage IOPS, latency, and networking. - Monitor and tune Autovacuum worker processes, thresholds, and scaling policies. - Perform manual vacuum/vacuum full/reindex to reduce bloat when necessary. - Maintain optimal health of tables and indexes to support performance. - Configure and manage Flexible Server built-in HA (zone-redundant HA). - Perform planned and unplanned failover operations, verifying: Data consistency, Application connectivity and Latency and performance post failover. - Plan and execute failback procedures ensuring minimal downtime. - Support cross-region disaster recovery via: Geo-restore, PITR and Automated backup strategy. - Validate automated daily backups, retention periods, and PITR. - Conduct on-demand and periodic restore testing for compliance and DR readiness. - Troubleshoot backup failures and I/O constraints during backup windows. - Implement RBAC and least-privilege access model. - Monitor audit logs and ensure adherence to internal and external compliance standards. - Provide L2/L3 support for PostgreSQL incidents - Work closely with application teams for performance issues and schema improvements. - Configurations, SOPs/Runbooks, Failover procedures and Environment diagrams - Participate in on-call rotation and planned maintenance windows. - Required active participation/contribution in team discussions. Professional & Technical Skills: - Must To Have Skills: Proficiency in PostgreSQL Administration. - Strong understanding of database management and optimization techniques. - Expertise in Query tuning & execution plan analysis; Autovacuum tuning & bloat management. - Failover/failback on Flexible Server HA; PITR & backup restore operations. - Strong Linux fundamentals or pgAdmin Tool. - Experience with backup and recovery strategies for PostgreSQL databases. - Familiarity with performance tuning and monitoring tools for PostgreSQL. - Good to Have: Experience with Azure cloud services like Azure Monitor, Azure Automation. - Experience automating database operations using Python, Bash, PowerShell. - Experience deploying PostgreSQL via ARM templates, Bicep, or Terraform. Additional Information: - The candidate should have minimum 3 years of experience in PostgreSQL Administration. - This position is based at our Gurugram office. - Must be willing to participate in 24x7 rotational support and cross skilling with other DBMS Technologies. - A 15 years full time education is required.
