The VP of Strategy and Transformation for the Manulife Canadian Segment is responsible for leading and driving strategic outcomes by collaborating with Segment Operations counterparts and functional partners. This role involves leading the development of the annual strategy and planning to achieve Manulife’s goals. The VP will manage a team to provide strategic analysis, guide investments, govern the investment portfolio, and track program execution in alignment with targets and success metrics.

Key Outputs:

  • Deliver strategy documents to the Enterprise strategy team, Finance, and IR (e.g., ELT updates, Board documents, portfolio performance management, IR communications, CEO memos).

  • Oversee strategic planning, portfolio management, and performance management processes, aligning with enterprise strategy, finance, and segment partners.

  • Conduct strategic analysis to identify opportunities and shape the strategic direction of the Canadian Segment.

Individual Responsibilities:

  • Lead annual strategy review, planning process, and quarterly functional reviews.

  • Building cross-functional relationships and providing leadership to issue resolution, where persuasive skills, negotiation skills, and considerable tact are required to gain support. Conflicts will be resolved in an effective and productive manner. Maintaining positive relationships with key customers and partners and interfacing regularly with senior executives.

  • Manage the portfolio to ensure alignment with financial plans and strategic priorities.

  • Ensure effective stakeholder management and people leadership.

  • Identify and develop immediate and strategic opportunities for short and long-term performance.

  • Provide thought leadership on innovations at Segment level.

  • Drive and set the vision and ambition for the Canadian Segment, aligning with global and local priorities.

  • Establish frameworks, governance, and processes to accelerate decision-making.

  • Lead current and future state assessments to identify gaps and recommend new initiatives.

  • Manage and motivate a high-performing team including the Office of Canadian CEO that can realize its individual and group potential. This individual must motivate team members to produce to the optimum of their abilities and provide them with rewarding career paths.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant, progressively senior experience in corporate Financial Services and consulting roles.

Salary range is expected to be between

$171,200.00 CAD - $317,700.00 CAD
