About the role:   As a BioAnalytics sales account manager, your role would be to maintain and grow the animal health monitoring lab business, as well as expand the preclinical research and biologic material testing services segments of the business within the academic and government markets as well as pharmaceutical and biotechnology markets.

Your call points will include principal investigators, laboratory animal veterinarians research core facility managers, and research lab managers.  Your customers would be found in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and contract research companies.  Your responsibilities include cultivating long-term relationships with key leaders in your territory to garner business in support of preclinical research projects and increasing the research animal health monitoring laboratory business -- both maintaining and growing.

  

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for selling IDEXX Preclinical Pathology and Research Animal Health Monitoring Lab services as well as cell line authentication and other biologic material testing services, along with central lab testing for Veterinary Clinical trials.
  • Establish and maintain relationships of existing and potential customers, including preparing and following up on quotations and bids.
  • Deliver seminar-type presentations to individuals or groups of potential and existing customers on our complete range of services, including hands-on product demonstrations.
  • Assist customers with questions of a technical nature concerning lab services.
  • Coordinate and drive educational seminars in Key Strategic areas.
  • Attend and participate in Trade shows, including booth duties, leads generation, and follow-up.
  • Complete all sales administration, including completing all Salesforce.com requirements & territory management activities.
  • Business review participation, including presentation of financial models, cost justification, comparison, and market feedback.  Communicate competitive issues to leadership.
  • Responsible for customer billing questions, assistance in resolving disputes, collections, and customer satisfaction.
  • Achieve and maintain technical knowledge and situational fluency of Bioresearch Market.

What do you need to succeed?

  • B.S. Biology, Chemistry or other Life Science Related Field
  • Masters Degree or advanced preferred
  • 2-3+ years of successful Life Science, Research, or Preclinical sales experience in the life-science market required, animal model sales experience required
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience “on the bench” in life science research strongly preferred, including animal studies
  • Previous experience selling into top Life Science Pharma/Biotech accounts.
  • Experience selling into life science research markets
  • Strong experience and understanding of comparative research and animal studies
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, grow and manage customer relationships
  • Strong Territory Management and Organization - ability to successfully manage and grow a multi-state territory
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Experience with Salesforce.com highly preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Overnight travel.

Some weekend work.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position involves a potential for exposure to chemical and biological agents known to cause disease in humans, radioactive materials, and the use of hazardous materials as defined by the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (29CFR).

Compensation and benefits:

  • Annual base salary $95,000 
  • Lucrative commission structure of $60,000 paid over four quarters
