Job Description:

  • Part time, permanent 0.6 FTE
  • Senior Clinical Specialist Position
  • Hawthorn Clinic primarily and across other various sites of St Vincent's Mental Health

About the Role

Centrally located and close to multiple public transport routes. A great opportunity to increase your skills in forensic mental health. You will provide a high standard of clinical assessment and consultation to clinical staff of the St. Vincent’s integrated adult MHS, demonstrating excellence in risk assessment and management of consumers with forensic backgrounds, or identified problem behaviours that may present a forensic risk.

You will join a dynamic community mental health team operating under a recovery-oriented model of care, utilising the Strengths Model of Case Management.

  • Work within the Strengths Model of recovery orientated practice providing supervision, education, and leadership to staff
  • Work one to one and build an alliance and capacity with external stakeholders, and other teams within the mental health program
  • Undertake assessment and provision of consultations that recommend targeted interventions to clinical staff and consumers with complex mental health needs and forensic presentations.

Classifications for this position will range from:

  • OT/SW Grade 4 HR9 – HR12 or HR25 – HR28 ($123,011 - $135,532 per annum)
  • Psychologist Grade 4 PM1 – PM5 ($120,884 - $145,402 per annum)
  • RPN Grade 5 NP51 ($126,885 per annum)

Your Contribution

  • Current registration with AHPRA (if relevant)
  • A minimum of 10 years post qualification clinical experience within Mental Health Services
  • Post-Graduate Qualifications in Forensic Mental Health desirable
  • Extensive experience in the provision of assessment, discipline specific intervention and case management services for consumers with complex mental health presentations, including problems behaviours, complex risk profiles, and forensic presentations.
  • Experience in providing clinical supervision to other mental health staff
  • A comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 (including amendments) and other relevant legislation
  • Current Victorian driver’s license
  • Current National Criminal History Check, or willing to obtain

About the Mental Health Team

St. Vincent’s Mental Health (SVMH) includes an adult area mental health service for the inner city areas of Yarra and Boroondara. 

The Clarendon Clinic Continuing Care Teams provide ongoing specialist treatment and support to meet the identified needs of clients who suffer with a serious mental illness and associated high level of disability in the City of Yarra. The multidisciplinary team provides a range of clinical and therapeutic interventions using the recovery-focused Strengths Model of Recovery-Oriented Practice.
