Job Description Summary

The Senior Manager, Sustainability Operations is responsible for aligning our business around a focused sustainability strategy, operationalizing our programs to achieve success for our sustainability commitments, integrating sustainability considerations to our products and our operations, and ensuring we continually improve our performance and industry leadership in advancing sustainability.

Scope of responsibilities will require a global sustainability mindset with expertise in operationalizing industrial operations toward sustainability goals and driving company-wide sustainability focus and transformation. Success will involve working closely with GE Vernova’s businesses and facilities to integrate sustainability goals and procedures into core operations. This role will also have a business-wide voice and reach in the translation of sustainability strategy into goals and behaviors to inform development and success of employees.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities: 

 

Scope & Impact: 

The Sustainability Manager is responsible for helping establish a comprehensive sustainability operational rhythm and for enabling sustainability success of GE Vernova’s sustainability commitments, including climate change (scope 1, 2, and 3), circularity, and other environmental goals. This role will help lead/grow a team focused on horizontal sustainability efforts across the various GE Vernova businesses. 

 

Domain Knowledge: 

o   Requires depth and breadth in areas of carbon footprint, eco-governance and design, product development, and operational excellence. 

o   Experience and skilled in utilizing Lean methodology. 

o   Understanding of how to ensure alignment with external stakeholders (governmental and regulatory agencies) to move the GE Vernova sustainability agenda forward. 

o   Skilled in global sustainability strategy and transformation.

 

Business or Geographic Expertise: 

o   Requires comprehensive understanding of sustainability areas and can anticipate and navigate how sustainability goals can follow legislation and translate to locations and workforce realities.  

o   Requires comprehensive understanding of sustainability landscape as it relates to operational stability, process improvement, and innovative technology in an evolving global market. 

 

Judgement & Critical Thinking: 

o   Plan and manage global sustainability efforts, accounting for local considerations and processes.  

o   Proposes solutions to improve reduction of carbon footprint, communicating across internal organizational levels and external audiences, and integrates sustainability focus into product and workplace decisions.  

 

 

Role Success Factors: 

o   Operationalizing sustainability—Orchestrating action to set and succeed in sustainability commitments across GE Vernova’s industrial and other operations. 

o   Product Dev – Help GE Vernova businesses to translate sustainability opportunities into product decisions. 

o   Partnership Strategy – Work with external partners and industry leaders to support stewardship in sustainability focus and advancement. Ensure alignment with external stakeholders to inform strategy and deliver improvements. 

o   Process & Delivery Excellence – Integrate sustainability considerations and Lean methodology into how we work, both in processes and behaviors. 

o   Communication – Be an active and influential voice in translating the sustainability vision to all audiences and building the cultural credibility. 

 

Requirements:


o   Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge or experience required, master’s degree preferred. 

o   Major business experience, preferably with a sustainability emphasis. 

o   Major experience in sustainability operations. 

 

Desired Characteristics:  


o   Experience in breadth of sustainability transformation. 

o   Experience in understanding and navigating governmental and regulatory agencies requirements. 

o   Broad knowledge of building strong relationships/partnerships and influencing decisions for business success. 

o   Demonstration of strategic planning. 

o   Deep experience in horizontal collaboration/integration with functional partners to deliver sustainability goals across business segments. 

o   Proven ability to integrate matrix activities in support of both internal & customer deliverables, navigates complexity with focus. 

o   Proven track record of leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing, cross-functional teams in a global, matrixed environment.

o   Ability to lead organizational changes, fostering a culture of sustainability and continuous improvement.

o   Committed to talent development, with a focus on building long-term internal capability and expertise.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $147,900.00 and $246,500.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
