About Pinterest:

Millions of people across the world come to Pinterest to find new ideas every day. It’s where they get inspiration, dream about new possibilities and plan for what matters most. Our mission is to help those people find their inspiration and create a life they love. In your role, you’ll be challenged to take on work that upholds this mission and pushes Pinterest forward. You’ll grow as a person and leader in your field, all the while helping Pinners make their lives better in the positive corner of the internet.

Creating a life you love also means finding a career that celebrates the unique perspectives and experiences that you bring. As you read through the expectations of the position, consider how your skills and experiences may complement the responsibilities of the role. We encourage you to think through your relevant and transferable skills from prior experiences.

Our new progressive work model is called PinFlex, a term that’s uniquely Pinterest to describe our flexible approach to living and working. Visit our PinFlex landing page to learn more.

The Measurement Data Foundation team creates the tools, processes and de-identification solutions necessary for Monetization use cases that maintain the privacy of our users and compliance. We implement a performance, privacy-centric approach to the use of Pinner data coming in (conversion data) and going out (data egress) for both internal and external consumers.

What you’ll do:

  • Work on designing solutions including complex data pipelines processing incorporating novel de-identification techniques for new use-cases in Pinterest.
  • Implement and design data pipelines that process billions of rows daily.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to ensure compliance with privacy regulations like GDPR and CCPA.
  • Set the technical vision and roadmap for the team, aligning it with the company's overall business goals.
  • Design and build the infrastructure that feeds Machine Learning models while maintaining a privacy centric approach.
  • Review and guide the work of other engineers within the team, providing feedback, design direction and active mentorship on a daily basis.
  • Set the technical bar for the team for technical artifacts produced such as design, launch documents, code commits and demos.

What we’re looking for:

  • 8+ years of relevant technical experience.
  • Proficiency in software development languages such as Java, Python and C++.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly in writing and verbally to many stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and mentoring other engineers. Experience setting technical direction, providing guidance, driving delivery, conducting code reviews, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Experience predicting possible complications in projects from the design phase and proactively addressing them with data and architectural decisions.
  • An aptitude for learning de-identification techniques. A deep understanding of privacy principles, data protection regulations, while being able to balance business needs  is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Relocation Statement:

  • This position is not eligible for relocation assistance. Visit our PinFlex page to learn more about our working model.

In-Office Requirement Statement:

  • We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
  • This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times/quarter and therefore can be situated anywhere in the country.
