The Opportunity
The Building Monitor is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the military education center and ensuring a safe, secure, and professional learning environment for students, faculty, and staff. This role oversees classroom access, facility readiness, and property accountability while providing front-line customer service and operational support during scheduled class sessions.
The Monitor serves as the on-site representative for ERAU-Worldwide, ensuring compliance with security procedures, safeguarding university and government property, and coordinating classroom logistics, equipment usage, and facility needs. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to respond effectively to operational and emergency situations while maintaining a high level of professionalism in a military environment.
Open, close, and secure military education center classrooms and facilities for ERAU-Worldwide use, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Maintain overall responsibility for facility and property management during assigned sessions, ensuring compliance with safety, fire, and security regulations.
Monitor buildings and surrounding grounds for security risks, report threats, violations, or discrepancies to Security Police, Fire Department, or appropriate officials.
Safeguard government and university property, controlled forms, and classroom equipment; ensure materials are secured at the end of each work period.
Issue, inspect, and track learning aids and audiovisual equipment, report damage, malfunctions, or misuse.
Set up classrooms as required, including arranging furniture and equipment to support instructional needs.
Direct students and faculty to assigned classrooms and monitor hallways, break areas, and off-site spaces to minimize disruptions.
Control and account for facility keys; report any loss or security concerns immediately.
Communicate emergency notifications, official messages, and mission alerts to faculty and students as required.
**Candidate must already have military logistical support to apply. Position is part-time working 10 hours per week.
Required Education and Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
