Position Overview:

Are you intellectually curious, analytically driven, and passionate about fixed income and commercial real estate finance? Freddie Mac's Multifamily division is seeking a Professional to join its Capital Markets team, where you will help execute and enhance one of the nation's largest and most innovative multifamily mortgage securitization platforms.

As a market leader in multifamily finance, Freddie Mac supports affordable rental housing across the United States through a broad range of financing and securitization solutions. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of capital markets, structured finance, mortgage-backed securities trading, data analytics, and product innovation.

The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative team responsible for the issuance, trading, and ongoing management of Freddie Mac Multifamily Participation Certificates (PCs), a platform supporting more than $30 billion of annual securitization activity. This position provides significant exposure to market participants, senior stakeholders, and key business functions across the organization.

Our Impact:

Freddie Mac's Multifamily division advances affordable rental housing by purchasing apartment loans from a national network of lenders and transforming those loans into securities that attract global investors.

The Multifamily PC Team plays a critical role in this mission by:

  • Executing weekly mortgage-backed securities transactions through Freddie Mac's PC auction platform.
  • Developing securitization and trading strategies to manage pipeline and market risk.
  • Driving innovation and process enhancements across the securitization lifecycle.
  • Delivering market intelligence and trading insights that support pricing and business decisions.
  • Partnering across Capital Markets, Securitization, Security Operations, Asset Management, Legal, and Production teams to ensure efficient and scalable execution.
  • Leveraging automation, analytics, and technology to improve risk management, operational effectiveness, and investor transparency.

Your Impact:

As a Professional, you will contribute directly to the execution and evolution of Freddie Mac's multifamily securitization platform. Key responsibilities include:

Capital Markets & Trading

  • Support the management and execution of a $30+ billion multifamily mortgage-backed securities pipeline.
  • Execute weekly PC issuance transactions and interact with dealer counterparties throughout the trading and settlement process.
  • Monitor market conditions, investor activity, and spread movements to provide actionable market intelligence and trade recommendations.
  • Analyze transaction economics and evaluate securitization alternatives to optimize execution outcomes.

Analytics & Risk Management

  • Perform quantitative analyses of mortgage loan pipelines, security cash flows, and transaction structures.
  • Contribute to the development of tools, models, and reporting solutions that enhance pipeline monitoring, issuance management, and risk assessment.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to support business decisions, identify emerging trends, and improve execution efficiency.

Business Process & Product Innovation

  • Drive automation initiatives and workflow enhancements that improve scalability and operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support new products, platform enhancements, and strategic initiatives.
  • Partner with external market data providers to maintain and enhance analytical and reporting capabilities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with teams across Capital Markets, Securitization, Security Operations, Asset Management, Production, Pricing, and Legal.
  • Coordinate with external dealers, analytics vendors, and service providers, including Bloomberg and Intex.
  • Communicate complex analytical and market concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Real Estate, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Business, or a related quantitative discipline, preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in capital markets, fixed income, structured finance, commercial real estate finance, banking, investments, or a related field, preferred.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with SQL or other data-querying tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of fixed income products, mortgage-backed securities, structured finance, or commercial real estate lending, preferred.
  • Experience with financial modeling, securitization, or capital markets analytics, preferred.
  • Programming experience in Python, VBA, R, or similar analytical tools, preferred.
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg, Intex, or other market and structured finance platforms, preferred.

Keys to Success in this Role:

  • Intellectual curiosity and a desire to understand financial markets and structured products.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Analytical rigor and comfort working with large datasets.
  • A proactive approach to process improvement and automation.
  • The ability to communicate effectively across business functions.
  • A collaborative mindset with a positive, team-oriented attitude.
