Education:    Bachelor’s degree in marketing research, Public Relations, Social Media, Retail Management or buying, Event Planning, Merchandising, Advertising and Promotion or Product and Brand Management.

Preferred: Graduate degree from accredited program/university in related field.

Experience:    1-3 years of experience in event management, marketing, and customer service. Experience with non-profits and community engagement preferred.

Summary:    We're seeking a dynamic and versatile Event & Marketing Specialist to oversee the brand-new Douglas R. Mehling II Center located on-site at Breckenridge Village and support the Community Relations and Development departments. This role will directly report to the Director of Community Relations.

This role entails promoting and selling event bookings, conducting tours of the center, and executing marketing strategies to boost sales. Additionally, this role will support the Community Relations and Development Departments in marketing and event planning efforts.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable selling the Mehling Center as a premiere venue, planning and executing events, performing basic marketing tactics, and collaborating with an off-site marketing team to accomplish goals. Flexibility is key as you'll be responsible for scheduling and attending all events, including pre-launch initiatives to ensure a successful launch. This candidate will need to be highly organized, thriving in a supportive but independent work environment to make and execute a plan to achieve goals.


Breckenridge Village is a Christ-centered non-profit organization serving adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities through residential and day programs.

Essential Functions: 
1. Event Booking and Scheduling for Mehling Center
- Promote and sell bookings for events at the Mehling Center
- Coordinate scheduling for both on-campus (Breckenridge) and off-campus groups.
- Own various pre-launch projects to ensure a successful launch, including organizing various parties.

2. Marketing Execution
- Plan and execute marketing tactics to increase event center sales.
- Collaborate with internal and external marketing teams to develop effective promotional campaigns.
- Be able to independently create an effective marketing plan for various scenarios
- Be proficient in social media and email marketing for the event center sales and other initiatives

3. Managing on-campus events in support of other departments
- Assist with on-site planning and management of the annual Christmas Tree Lot (usually the Friday after Thanksgiving through mid-December) including weekend and evening shifts
- Serve as event planner for fundraising and community events both on and off-campus, including cross-collaboration with other teams

4. Tour Coordination
- Provide informative and engaging tours of the event center and Breckenridge Village Campus to potential Event Center clients.
- Showcase the facility's features and amenities to highlight its suitability for events.

Measurable Deliverables:

1.    Meet annual sales quota for event venue (with support from DOCR).
2.    Implement effective systems of organization for marketing, renting, and managing the event space.
3.    Implement effective systems of organization for planning and managing on-campus events.
4.    Ensure external communications are consistent with agency branding requirements and values.
5.    Participate in weekly consultation with Director of Community Relations ensure service and deliverables are met.
6.    Maintain flexible schedule according to scheduled events, which will include working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
7.    Must be able to learn and use sound, light, and projection system in event center. Training will be provided.

Responsibilities:
1.    Attend events in community as assigned, including networking, additional training, and tabling events.
2.    Assist with internal and external Breckenridge Village events.
3.    Participate in the Breckenridge community by spending 1-2 hours per month engaged in activities with Day Program
4.    Assist the Breckenridge Village Christmas Tree Lot event and volunteer coordination (requires weekend and evening availability).
