What you will do:

Johnson Controls is offering an exciting career opportunity to join our dynamic team of design engineering professionals. In this entry level position, you will be instrumental in bringing our industry-leading compressor technology from concept sketch, through three-dimensional CAD modelling and design documentation, to real world prototype testing at our state-of-the-art facilities.  The ideal candidate will be motivated and curious, with a passion for solving challenging problems.

 

Nature and Scope:

  • Given sketches, markups, spreadsheets, and verbal instruction, and using Creo 6.0 software, prepare drawings of piece parts and complex assemblies of precision machine components.

  • Prepare and revise bills of material for assemblies and text descriptions of parts.

  • Possess a solid understanding of standard mechanical technical design and drafting principles, theories, concepts, techniques, and processes.

  • Demonstrate knowledge and use of engineering and commercial standards for design application.

  • Knowledge of sheet metal, castings, forgings, and other mechanical components

  • Ability to follow direction from supervisor and engineers and serve as a member of a team.

  • Ability to organize and perform multiple assignments and responsibilities.

  • Must be able to meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.

  • Effective and professional communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with internal customers.

  • Understanding of SAP or other Material Resource Planning software to investigate existing material and BOMs.

  • Knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration principles a plus.

Preferred:

  • The ideal candidate will have an Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.

  • Experience using Windchill/Creo 6.0 or higher.

  • Working knowledge of MSOffice Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Mechanical aptitude and Design experience in rotating machinery, cast parts, and GD&T is highly desired

  • Must be able to travel globally up to 10% per year
